The word and the respect of the man is the only thing to be one better world.
Julian was a nice host and gave us some really good recommendations for wineries and restaurants around Maipu.
The guest house is comfortable but we could not get any WiFi there. The property is guarded by two dogs (Pirata and Alka) and you better love them because they will stick to you as soon as they notice you :) To get around the area I would highly recommend a rental car because otherwise you will have a hard time getting anywhere.
We were two couples staying at the Cavagnaro bodega for three days. It's a very lovely guesthouse that easily fits four people. Its very cosy and you have your very own patio and outside courtyard to sit and eat and drink the Cavagnaro familys very own malbecs. I can recommend buying a few bottles from Julians stash. They are very enjoyable. The BnB are close to other wineries and Julian was very helpful in organising bike rental for the trip. I recommend a stay at Bodega Cavagnaro for your time in Maipú.
Julian was brilliant, really communicative and there to answer any of our questions. The apartment was wonderful, quiet and secluded just perfect and just what we wanted. We had breakfast on the terrace every morning and couldn't have asked for anything more. Julian even showed us around his vineyard too. I'd stay here again in the drop of a hat!
Excellent location for wining/biking by day, chilling by night. Julian's bodega is beautiful and the small fully equipped guest house is super cosy.
Response from Julian:
Thank you Dan , thank's for coming , it was really nice to meet you , have a very good luck in your trip !
all the best !
My husband and I stayed at this lovely Bodega for 5 nights after our wedding. We got a private tour of the vineyards by Julian and we bought some delicious wine, olive oil and balsamic vinegar from his cellar - produce made from his own vines and olive trees! delicious! They have two very friendly dogs who became great companions during our stay. The breakfast supplied as part of the stay was great - croissants, coffee, cakes and fruit, and was given to us on the veranda of the big house which has beautiful gardens. The pool is fantastic and we sent many an evening there watching the sunset over the Andes in the distance. The lady of the house also organised cycle bikes for us to do wine tours and the location of the Bodega is excellent for seeing all the vineyards and wineries nearby as they are all off the main road which is only a few minutes walk from the bodega. Highly recommended place to stay!
Response from Julian:
Ashleigh , thank you for your words and to come here . It was a pleasure to meet you and your husband You are very welcome again ! , thank you!
Julian is a 3rd generation wine maker and we stayed in a little cottage on his vineyard.
Don't expect lots of excitement, this is a quiet place and you will need to walk to shops and the 2 restaurants nearby. Mendoza is a short bus ride away ($3.20 pesos) where there are lots of bars and restaurants there, but get a taxi on the way back.
While staying with Julian we got to use the private pool surrounded by olive trees, and the Andes are visible in the distance, so amazing. Breakfast was served on the family's home terrace (which is pretty grand) with the morning birdsong as the background music.
Julian was really kind and so helpful, we asked for a recommendation for bike rental and he actually organised the whole thing even had them delivered for us. It was $40 pesos each and you will get a map. This is great way of looking around Maipu and the other vineyards.
We really cannot recommend Julian's place enough, it is really something special.
Response from Julian:
Andrew and Peggy , thank you so much for your words!! , it was really nice to meet you and very welcome if you decide come back some day .
All the best !
If you are looking for an extremely unique and relaxing place to stay while in Maipu, this is the place. The main house and property were gorgeous, while the guest house was perfectly cozy and charming. Only caveat is that wifi doesn't actually reach the guest house so you have to walk over to the main house in order to connect (which isn't so bad if what you want is to unplug during your visit). While I did not meet Julian, I met both his sister and mother and they were lovely and welcoming hosts. Highly recommend it.
We enjoyed our stay at Julian's place, the cottage is spacious and well-appointed. We appreciated a nice breakfast in the mornings and were greeted each day by Julian's two friendly dogs!
A small note that the cottage is right next to the road and traffic can be a bit loud, but earplugs takes care of that.
With a car, we found the cottage to be a great home base for exploring Maipu, Aconcagua, Valle de Uco.
My boyfriend and I enjoyed staying in Viña Maria. Julian was quick to respond as we booked within 24 hours of our 1 night stay. The property is beautiful with Julian's vineyard attached, many trees and flowers. The pool is clean and situated in the middle of the vegetation with a view of the vineyard. 2 small dogs on the property are very friendly. The accommodations are comfortable with "old world" character/charm. Breakfast the next morning was served on the terrace of a larger house on the property, simple and tasty. We were also lucky to buy a few bottles of Julian's wine and olive oil after his official store hours. Having returned home, we wish we purchased more! Great product :) We hope to pass by Julian's house again, to stay or just to visit his store.
Julian and his family were very accommodating. The house was a bit further outside of Mendoza than we had expected. The first night we arrived later in the evening and when Julian's mother realized we hadn't eaten yet, she brought us warm empanadas. The other nights we enjoyed cooking and grilling some parilla on the grill in the backyard. There aren't a ton of restaurants around so be sure to plan ahead!
One of this biggest perks was staying in such close proximity to the wineries in Maipu. We really enjoyed biking around from winery to winery. I would also suggest grabbing a few bottles of Julian's wine.
All in all, our stay was really relaxing. Its the best way to experience wine country in Mendoza.
