David and Kathy are lovely people with a lovely home. Because of our late arrival and early departure, we had limited time to visit, but we got the truncated tour of the schoolhouse and were formally introduced to the cats. The guest quarters were warm & cozy and the quiet insulation of this sleepy hollow was truly suffocating, in the best of ways! We hope to come back for another ski weekend next year! Thanks for the tip on "Parker's Pizza", just 4 miles down the road. The food was delicious and the craft beers were an unexpected surprise!
I stayed with David and Kathy in early March while skiing at Craftsbury. Other than getting lost on the way during a heavy snowfall, I could not have been happier there. The snow was beautiful, the skiing was great, the house was warm and the hosts were so nice. I look forward to coming back again next year.
Kathy and David were amazing hosts and provided everything two guests could ever ask for. Their warm personalities and generosity was the perfect welcome after a day of travelling. Their home is an incredible old schoolhouse filled with interesting things and Kathy has an incredible collection of wool for any fibre geek to gawk over. Oh, and they have lovely, beautiful pets. We definitely want to visit again in the summer to test out the zip line. ;) thanks so much again. We had an amazing time. - Kelsey and Gabe
We LOVED staying at the Merlin Tree House. Kathy was away, but David really took care of us. The house was very warm, super clean and cozy. David showed us the old school house, his little farm (with two chickens) and made sure we were comfortable.
We would definitely recommend anyone to stay with David and Kathy. It was a truly unique experience!

We had a fantastic stay at the Merlin Tree while skiing at the nearby Craftsbury outdoor center. We felt very welcomed--in fact, we felt more like friends or family staying from out of town than customers. If you are looking for a place to stay in the area, you simply can't do any better.
Kathy and David are lovely. They were hospitable and kind, offered suggestions on things to do, where to eat (Parker Pie is truly delicious!), and were generally very hospitable and accommodating. If you are an animal lover, you'll be impressed with their chickens, beautiful dogs, and sweet fuzzy cats!
I was glad to have found Merlin Tree in the daylight some 10 days before my stay. That helped me find the place after dark once I left the Interstate. The location, accomodation, hosts and add-on breakfast were exactly what I was looking for...David and Kathy are very welcoming, prepared the accomodation with little touches that were appreciated by a tired traveller, and even provided tasty bagels in the reasonable add-on. I plan to return soon as a happy repeat guest, who would recommend Merlin Tree to those looking for a very comfortable, thoughtful country retreat.
(From Parker Pizza make sure you take a turn along the road that is bordered by the cow barn, as your GPS may otherwise take you on an impassable gravel road)
Fantastic little place in the middle of small-town Vermont. I went up for a ski weekend with a friend and David was kind enough to help us out with directions and pointed us to a few places for food and beers which were all great. The place was spacious and well kept, so much better than staying at a hotel!
Always a pleasure to host David & Kathy. Good people - great guests.
Fine guests. A very short stop for David and Kathy on their way to a Maryland show. Pleased to have had them here.
