About Me
Work
International choreographer
Hey, I'm Rossella!
Orvieto, Umbria, Italy · Member since December 2010

Since the 1980s she has been active as an independent choreographer and postmodern artist, as dance-
performer, teacher, and artistic curator of the international festival Contact-ZIPfest.

Her home base is Orvieto, where since 1984 she has directed a studio of her own, a center for dance
training, headquarters of the ALEFdanzaateatro company founded in that year, and home site for dozens of
international training projects. ALEF is the first independent company of contemporary dance in the Region
of Umbria since 1984.

Since 1987 the choreographer has been present in the context of contemporary dance. Productions of her
company were endorsed by the Ministry of Cultural Assets and Activities from (phone number hidden), by the Region
of Umbria and the City of Orvieto, with 25 years of intense activity with a staff of international dancers
to her credit. Her repertory consists of 25 productions, represented in Italy, Europe and South America,
applauded by the public, critics in Italy and abroad, and the national television and radio networks.

In her performances she introduced Real Time Composition and Improvisation, moving in new directions
in disseminating dance and accompanying the public in Real Time in the genesis of a creation. With
her personal staging of contemporaneity, and a complex theatre direction mediated by crossovers from
corporality to music, visual arts and installations, Rossella Fiumi has put her Company on stage both in
traditional theaters and in atypical sites, Art Galleries and unusual spaces.

As performer and teacher she has participated in European projects and festivals on Improvisation and on
Contact Improvisation, including: Tanzfabrik Berlin (phone number hidden); Festival of Valencia 1994; ECITE Budapest
2000; International Contact Freiburg Festival 2004 and 2005; Romaeuropa festival 2005 for I.U.S.M and
