Michiel and Maricela were fabulous hosts. They made my friends and I feel so welcome in their beautiful home by opening up all of their amenities (hot tub, big-screen projector, wine/tea collection) to us and making sure that we were as comfortable as possible. The house, apart from being beautiful and spacious, was in a lively neighborhood with incredible food and art, and our hosts gave us plenty of suggestions for places to try. The house is less than a block away from Alberta Street, so we could walk up and down the street exploring all of the good food, shopping, and art.
This was our first trip to Portland, and it was truly welcoming by these two!
Our hosts were very welcoming and organized. We all enjoyed chatting with them and loved being in their charming house. Being so close to Alberta St made exploring Portland so easy. It was fun to be able to take advantage of their movie projector and hot tub, too!
Michiel & Maricela have a beautiful, clean, quiet, comfy, and well-maintained home in a fantastic location. They are very warm, kind, and welcoming people, and I felt instantly at home. They are bright, educated, thoughtful, accomplished, traveled, and beautiful tango dancers, so a trove of conversational wealth awaits anyone who has the privilege of staying under their roof. I head the pleasure of meeting several small creatures of note: the sweet kitty Dr. Watson, plus the robotic servants Herbie the Love Broom, and Darth Mop. I was so certain that I already loved everything about my hosts and their home, but then I learned that Maricela had insisted on installing Linux on her mother's computer. *SWOON*
Michiel and Maricela were great hosts! Their house was very comfortable and they certainly made us feel welcomed. They recommended seeing a Portland Center Stage production at the Armory and we loved the play that night.
The neighborhood is filled with restaurants for a tasty brunch. My girlfriend and I had amazing waffles at the Waffle Window literally around the corner! I highly recommend staying here!
The hosts and their cat were very friendly. We reserved both of their guest bedrooms and found them to be comfortable, clean, and welcoming. The coffee was delicious!
Our hosts made us feel very welcomed. Upon arrival, we were offered drinks and were given a little tour. Everything was just as we had read, if not more! Both rooms are very nice and comfy. It is a nice and quiet neighborhood. We couldn't have picked a better place to stay at! 20 feet out the door and you are on Alberta St, where there are many restaurants, bars, and cute little shops. We felt very safe in the neighborhood. And if you want to go downtown, there is a bus in front of the house that takes you there in 20min! From and to the airport, we took one bus and the MAX. It is incredibly easy to get around through the city.
Our hosts were very nice and they even let us use their projector out in the living room to watch a movie. We would definitely stay here again!
We stayed at their place for 2 nights. Although we didn't get to see them, the whole experience was AWESOME! They are very responsive and accommodating! And you CANNOT ask for a better area to stay in,, so close to so many AMAZING restaurants! We didn't get to explore everything, so will definitely go back and stay with them again next time we visit Portland! Oh, their house is equipped with a very advanced heating and warning system! It just blew my mind!!! HIGHLY HIGHLY and HIGHLY recommended! Super amazing place, clean and as described! Thank you to both of you for letting us stay at your place!
Michiel & Maricela were fantastic hosts, providing an exemplary airbnb experience. They were welcoming, made us feel at home, provided great information about the area while also offering privacy. Their home is comfortable, clean and well located, with 2 clean bedrooms and a bathroom available. Highly recommended!
Michiel & Maricela are such wonderfully warm people, and hosts. My family and girlfriend stayed with them, and couldn't have had a better experience. Their house is located in arguably Portland's hottest neighborhood, steps away from the best coffee shops and brunch spots. They were so gracious, always offering us extra amenities and information. They also have an amazing wall-sized movie projector, that I hope to try out during my next stay - look nowhere else in Portland, for a truly authentic and amazing experience.
Clean, comfortable and quiet. Also just about the best location ever. The listing and reviews for this property were right on about it being just around the corner from the shops and restaurants of the Alberta arts district. We arrived in pouring rain, so ordered in just about the best pizza I've ever had and helped ourselves to a local red offered up generously by our host. Next day we started the day with coffee on the deck and a walk to brunch -- Pine State Biscuits and Petite Provence were an easy walk. We couldn't have been happier with our stay. We hope we can do it again.
Hi! Michael and his girlfriend stayed at my place a few days ago. They were very respectful with the neighbors and left the apartment in very good conditions. Definitely I would host them again!
Michiel and Maricela were great guests. They took great care of the apt and left everything in order and clean. Communication was also perfect throughout the whole stay. I can recommend this guests to any member of the airbnb community and would also welcome back in the future.
Michiel and I have hosted many a tango dancers. If I don't have room he is the first person I refer them to. An absolutely beautiful home and great location in the Alberta district. Both Michiel and Mari are extensive travelers themselves and know what is like to find such a respite. If you are lucky enough to share a meal in their home you will find it hard to enjoy the amazing restaurants in Portland. Yes, Mari cooks that good. '
I've known Michiel for several years and he is a wonderful host! He is creative, organized, generous, and thoughtful - and his home reflects this. Plus, he's in an incredible location in the city.
Michiel's house is beautiful - Modern & cozy. I got the chance to also spend time with him, which was lovely as well. Perfect (email hidden)eps away from Alberta St and also the bus stop to the city. Can't go wrong!
