HI , I AM FROM DELHI , LIKE TO TRAVEL OCCASIONALLY . SINCE MY PARENTS ARE SETELLED IN DHARAMSHALA( H.P) ,A BEAUTIFUL HILL STATION , IT IS NICE PLACE TO HOST ON AIRBNB.
The home is situated where you can get a spectacular view of the dhauladhar ranges, which makes it a bit special. The folks living under the roof are warm and it was great to know that they lived there for 15 years. Its next to a home stay and must pick if you are planing to visit dharamshala.
We contacted Meenu on a very short notice and she gave a very prompt response. :) the house is fully equipped with all amenities including a kitchen and good water heaters. Her parents are sweet and hospitable and provided us supplies for cooking too. The gallery has a beautiful view and is easily reached from Sheela chowk.
Before I arrived, Meenu was very thorough and helpful advising me on the best way to reach the house.
When I arrived Mrs. Sodhi had a young boy come meet me to guide me to the house.
The location is beautiful. Surrounded by snow capped mountains, in a quiet serene area of Lower Dharamshala called Siddhpur. Of a morning and evening it was absolutely breathtaking- and quite surreal!
The house is a 10 minute walk from norbulingka institute, and a 5 minute stroll to the bus stop which takes you to Dharamsala (15mins) and then McLeod Ganj (30mins). You can also catch a bus in the opposite direction to see the Karmapa Temple and Chamunda Temple. So the location really is fantastic! I loved going out to explore and making my way back to the house which really is nestled away from the madness of the surrounding tourist towns.
The room itself is beautiful, spacious, with a remarkable view of the mountains. Both attached bathroom and kitchen were very generous in size. It caters for everything you need! There was also a TV and chairs in the room.
The favourite part of my experience though was Mr and Mrs Sodhi themselves. Upon arriving, they offered me chai and lunch, and we chatted a lot. They always had my best interests in mind (Mrs Sodhi even had someone get a shawl on my behalf so I wouldn't be charged the crazy tourist price) and really made me feel a part of their family.
Mrs Sodhi cooks the most tasty and delicious meals!!! She would make me breakfast and dinner (and lunch if I was around!) and I just loved their company.
We would watch Indian TV together, sipping chai, staying warm!
They always have great suggestions for how I could spend my time and Mr Sodhi would draw me out maps so I wouldn't get lost. He even walked me himself to the norbulingka institute.
It was really hard for me to say goodbye! They had become my family and when you're traveling (especially alone) for such a long time, experiences like these are so special and not to be missed.
I would recommend staying with Mr and Mrs Sodhi in a heartbeat! The location, room, view was all perfect, but the affection and care given made the trip the most special for me.
I hope to return one day and stay even longer! I stayed 4 nights and it just wasn't enough. Thank you for everything!!!
Thank you Tess for being a great guest , my parents will always cherish the time they spent in your company.
Stayed at this place along with my Teenage Boy, it was supposed to be a Father-Son bonding trip with lots of trekking involved.
Cordinator : Meenu was very nice and coordinated well to make us comfortable in reaching this place in Lower Dharamshala.
Place : Nice & Cozy with No Noise of Traffic or Pollution of the City
Host : Both Father & Mother of Meenu have been very Cordial and warm people
Lovely place !
I have spent 4 days there. I've been welcomed by Meenu's parents. This couple was really adorable with me. They offered me tea when I had arrived, and lunch and dinner then! We chatted a lot! I felt very good in their house !
They gave me all the advice I had needed to take buses and to visit.
The room is clean, large and bright. The bed is confortable and the bathroom very clean. I could also cook thanks to the kitchen.
The sightseeing is just awesome! Thank you
After booking a room Meenu answered on my every question. When we had troubles how to get to the place she did everything she could to guide us. When we called to her father, he sent help, so without any problems we got there.
Meenu's parents are wonderful hosts, we spent great time with them. They invited us for dinner, traditional dhal, and it was delicious. We stayed only for one night, but that was unforgettable experience.
Room and bathroom were clean and tidy. House is placed in peaceful area, there's nice view to the mountains and city in night. Highly recommended!
This is a wonderful place, with the mountains as the back drop, the bedroom has a scenic view of the mountains. The place is very well kept with all the important amenities required for staying. Meenu was very helpful in guiding me to the place, her parents made me comfortable and guided to different places in and around Dharamshala. A very quite and peaceful place for anyone wanting to experience tranquility in the hills.
Merci beaucoup pour votre chaleureux accueil. Cet appartement est très tranquille et parfait pour découvrir le visage authentique de Dharamshala.
Our stay at this place was memorable. Meenu's parents went out of their way to make our stay comfortable & welcoming. The place was very close to Dharamshala which makes the location excellent place to stay. Both rooms were very spacious, clean with attached modern washrooms. Had our own kitchen to cook our own meals which was very helpful. I would highly recommend this place. We stayed here for 3 nights with our 2 teenage kids. Even they had a blast. Thank you Meenu for the having us at your place. We enjoyed every minute of it.
I went with my 4 friends to watch India Eng match at Dharamsala. I knew that hotels will be booked and expensive. I tried Airbnb and booked Meenu's listing the very moment I saw it. And trust me, I never regretted it. Its proximity to the stadium, the view of the hills from the apartment, the well-maintained and cozy rooms with every facility barring TV and her affectionate parents made this trip memorable. One thing I know I dont need to plan when I will be visiting Dharamsala next time is my accommodation. I know the place where I have to go.
Small (but manageable) cons- There was no TV in both rooms. One TV would have been a big plus.
The road from the highway to this apartment is in bad condition. And we have to park the car 100 mts away from the room (But i have been promised that this will be fixed in 6 months.)
Overall- definitely 4/5. Highly recommended
Meenu was a brilliant guest to host! Very nice, clean and tidy and an all around easy going person. She was very understanding and communication was great and always prompt. I couldn't be happier with the experience of hosting her and would absolutely recommend her to any other hosts and look forward to hosting her during her return trips to Hong Kong in the future.
