Aucune hesitation a avoir! Pensez a louer des scooter pour découvrir les alentours.
Booked 2 Chaba villas in Baan Tha Lane Village for a family reunion.
My Father and his wife stayed for over 2 weeks and we visited for 1 week. We planned for my Brother and his girlfriend to stay with us for 4 nights but we ended up booking a villa next door instead.
First off, it's important to note that it is very remote and there is no free transport provided. It costs 800 baht each way to get to Ao Nang which is 40 minutes drive away.
Secondly, the Chaba Villas are only suitable for one couple! Although they say you can use the attic converted room upstairs I think it's not practical and in fact dangerous. The upstairs room has no toilet and the stairs are very very steep..... and without a bannister on the outside.
Thirdly, there is no beach - it's just a mangrove swamp in front of the villas. When the tide is in its lovely but when the tide is out it doesn't look great.
Having said that, the place is very nice, quiet and relaxed. The bathrooms are large and spacious with excellent shower. The remote controlled bed is a nice feature too! The pools are salt water - small but good for keeping cool.... but too small for swimming.
THe food was excellent although the breakfast was a little boring/limited.
Staff were lovely, friendly and efficient. Very nice to deal with.
In our time there all the other guests were French and it is owned and operated by a Frenchman.
Personally, I thought it was too expensive and too remote. HOwever, it really is IDEAL for couples looking to get away from it all. If you have a family or more than 1 couple I recommend staying in the Bua villas - not the Chaba!
My Father loved his stay there and is very likely to return next year.
My review is not negative at all - just trying to be informative
.... it really does depend on what you are looking for.
The Villa was stunning and the view was mesmerizing. Excellent service by all the staff. The boat trip to the islands is a MUST DO.
We *did* contract food poisoning with one of the meals that the kitchen staff served so I hope they are more careful in the future with the food preparation. That said, they took excellent care of us even when we were sick and I still highly recommend Tha Lane!
