My girlfriend and I like to see the parts of cities that only the locals normally know about. We love finding tiny places to stay and to eat, via web or local recommendations. We don't normally do fixed plans and tend to 'do our own thing' even when traveling together.
I lived in Portland, OR for ten years before moving to College Station, TX. Rebecca lives in Houston. We travel to Portland frequently to visit friends. Starting in 2013, we're going to be doing a lot more traveling to find a place that we'd like to transplant to.
We're gardeners, amateur non-snobby foodies, winos, and nerds. I work from home for a small company. Rebecca is a civil engineer. We have three dogs, but don't often travel with them (and never by airplane) -- although if there are dogs available, you can bet we'll want to spend time with them. We're not so big on cats (and I'm a bit allergic to them) but tolerate them, as they do all of humanity.
Overall, we're clean, friendly people who hope to do a lot of traveling in the next year. In the process, we hope to make sure our dollars get to local economies, that we make connections wherever we go, and that we get a good impression of what it would be like to live in the places we visit. Hope to meet you!
