I was greeted promptly by my hosts, despite my late arrival. The amenities were very accommodating. The bed was comfortable and the backyard was a nice place to relax.
Great access to hiking trails. I wasn't there much because I was having so much fun walking around the area, but I would definitely recommend this place if you're looking for a little adventure by the zoo.
good location, near the park, close to restaurants and bars. Dean also made sure we food for breakfast. Thanks much! Would stay there again.
The apartment smells good, the bed is clean and comfortable, the neighborhood is quiet, and there's plenty of privacy for the rented space. Enjoyed my brief time relaxing there.
We really enjoyed our quiet canyon stay. Very bohemian and relaxed. We especially appreciated his generous stash of snacks and breakfast foods.
Dean's apartment is great, absolutely a natural oasis. You feel super peaceful and happy in that great little terrace with the sun, a beer and your feet up. The bed is comfortable, private bathroom, you have everything you need in San Diego.
The area is nice, you can walk to some bars and restaurants in the area and Dean makes sure you know where to go.
Dean was an excellent host, he was warm and welcoming, always responsive. He literally lets you in his house and life, it's not about using someone's bed when travelling but about meeting someone, seeing how people live in San Diego, experiencing a city as a local, and he offers you that, even generous enough to provide you with food or beverages and his own personal stuff that he might have there.
I had a great stay in San Diego and would definitely reach out to stay here again. Thanks Dean!
This is a nice place to stay in a very hip neighborhood. Dean made sure we had clear directions to get there and the breakfast we liked. Dean's housemate, Jon, was a total delight.
Our stay at Dean and John's was really nice ! They made sure we had everything we needed, including for breakfast. The place is really pretty, and the canyon is perfect for resting after a day in the city. John was there during our stay and has been adorable at all times. Would come back without hesitation !!!
Amazing experience!!! Feel like we Made two more friend with dean and Jonathan! Can't wait to come back again!
The house is really wonderful, and in a very beautiful canyon with nice trails. Extremely close to balboa park and the museums. Hanging out in the house was a lot of fun, watching movies on the projector with Dean's really nice roommate. Dean was very accommodating, he even made sure that there were bagels and fruit for breakfast! A very good place to stay.
Blissful sanctuary. I loved staying at Dean's natural oasis. He is very friendly, welcoming, accommodating, generous, and we vibe on many shared levels of interest and lifestyle. This stay turned out to be exactly the medicine I needed at this moment in my life. I had planned on exploring the night life of North Park and uptown San Diego. Instead I stayed in and culrivated alone time in a welcoming sanctuary that had just the right features and energy for what I needed. I didn't realize how much I needed this alone time, before I came. They have a Sensa Jade Roller robotic massage bed. I put on some headphones and dropped into deep meditative binaural sound therapy while the table sent me through rolling waves of blissful pressure point manipulations. There are tranquil spots to meditate. He has an infra red sauna. It warmed my core on a night when I was feeling cold and hollow.. I was grappling with a difficult situation back home that needed much alone time for contemplation and processing. This stay gave me just that opportunity. I savored my alone time, worked through the issues set before me, and rose from bed the morning of day 2 with clarity and purpose to stride forth into the actions I chose to take. The canyon is a nice little nature hike. The location is secluded, nestled in a hidden pocket near North Park. I didn't know a spot like this existed, surrounded by a busy city. It's not a manicured park. It's primitive, just how I like it. There's a rough path, a little river, and lots of wild local plants. There are some old growth trees. It's the perfect place sit and think, escape the city, and be alone. Climb up out of the canyon and you're back in North Park and Burlingame. All really close walking distance. Dean surprised me when we talked on the phone by asking me what I wanted for breakfast. I decided to bring my waffle maker so I asked him to get some gluten-free pancake/waffle mix. He showed up with so much more.. All kinds of food that I like to eat. I made breakfast on day 2. It was a joy cooking for myself in Dean's Kitchen. I had planned on going out for meals because I love the restaurants in North Park and I'm so glad I stayed in and served myself a home cooked meal instead, in my peaceful sanctum of self-nurturing aloneness. I am a massage therapist. Dean welcomed my offer to negotiate the price so that it would be part cash and part massage trade. We hit it off really well. The bodywork session was great. I hope to come back many times to massage him regularly. I love trading for goods and services rather than doing everything through cash. Bartering adds a personal touch to transactions and makes the exchange more beneficial for both parties. Some things are difficult to put a price...
Dean is a wonderful guest. He is courteous & considerate of everyone in the house. He brought desert to share with us! Dean was neat & tidy & even put his bedding in the laundry. His communication about the reservation was clear & he showed up right when he said he would. He is the perfect houseguest.
