I'm married, in my 30s, live in Houston, teach high school, coach debate.
5 Things I can't live without: the love of friends/family, self-respect, constantly learning, books, hmmm I guess that's only 4! Wait - I looove tumblr...but I can live without it.
I love art in all forms. I read voraciously and I'm crazy liberal (but try to respect others' beliefs). When I'm not dragging my debate team all over the state to kick ass and take names, I try to make time to make pottery and photographs. My favorite activity is learning new recipes from people as I help them in the kitchen. I enjoy getting my hands dirty: cooking for others, throwing clay on the wheel, making photos in old-school ways that involve lots of chemistry!
What I don't do: I don't smoke, I don't diet even though I need to, I rarely drive the speed limit, I don't disrespect others' beliefs or their property, and I try not to lie (ok, true confessions time: If a kid gets a really nasty comment from a judge on their ballot, I totally lie to the kid and tell them I never got the ballot back...but that's a rare exception!).
What I'm best at: listening, cooking, talking smack, learning from others, being a bitch (hey, let's keep it real! But I'm nicest to those I barely know. Ironic, huh?).
Quirky facts: I love chickens, I collect hats and hobbies, my husband is the most patient man in the world (see above bitch comment), I didn't learn I was a control freak (and how to let that go) until I was 27.
-Motto I put up in my classroom: Everything is going to be alright. Maybe not today, but eventually.
