We had a delightful stay at Shore Private Cottage. In fact, we wish we'd booked two weeks instead of one. The photos are very accurate and the cottage looks like it was lovingly designed and outfitted for friends and family. Although we have lived in Los Angeles, we'd never spent much time in Topanga. The neighborhood is woodsy and quiet, a perfect respite and easy drive from the traffic and hustle-and-bustle of PCH and the Westside (or Woodland Hills if you're headed to the valley). Perks included (email hidden) while hubby cooked in the modern kitchen, morning showers beside the bamboo garden, drinking wine on the private lanai, and late night visits to the deep-soaking tub.
This place was magical. Such an amazing spot and a wonderful experience. Elliot was such a pleasure. Everything was so simple and relaxing. Exactly what I wanted. I would recommend this spot to anyone.
My family and I had the such an amazing time at Elliot's house. The house was so lovely, private, clean, surrounded by roses and lavender. There is the coolest outdoor bath tub to relax in under the Topanga nite sky. The fresh towels, glass shower, outside eating our breakfast was just so special. I would stay here again and again! Thank you Elliot for such a spectacular place!
This cottage was perfect! Everything was well put together was able to accommodate to me, my husband, a 3 year old and a 1 year old. The balcony was safe for the kiddies to play on (although there are stairs). The bed was very cozy. We felt right at home.
I had a peaceful and sacred visit at the Shore Private Cottage. It was everything I imagined and more. I absolutely loved the outdoor tub. The kitchen had everything I needed to cook fabulous meals. Elliot was a kind and gentle host.
Beautiful, serene, comfortable with polite and accommodating hosts.
The place is very well designed, private, and clean. We stayed here for a relaxing mini-moon after a wedding in LA. Enjoyed hiking trails, the beach, and beautiful outside tub. Elliot was a great host and even had a bottle of wine ready when we arrived. Overall fantastic experience!
If you are looking for a beautiful cottage in Topanga, peacful, serene, comfortable and beautiful, The Shore Cottage is the place for you! I travel often and use airbnb about once a month. This place is at the top of my list. It is as well appointed as the photos let on, the kitchen well equipped and the bed provided me with three nights of the best sleep I can remember having in years. Looking for another opportunity to travel to Topanga so I can stay again at The Shore Cottage. Thank you Elliot!!
overall a good experience, but there are a few things to be aware of; the room is directly below the hosts' living space, so you do hear them walking around, faint snoring, talking (the sound, not the words), their dog barking, etc.
The house is located up a very twisty road, and driving in at night can be challenging if your night vision isn't the best. My cell phone had very spotty reception, and their internet strength was low, making connections slow.
The parking space allotted is a little tricky to back in to, if you aren't good at backing in. You are navigating into a space between the house and the hosts' car, so you have to be careful.
The bathtub is narrow and short, so if you like large tubs, this is a different experience.
The room felt a little chilly to me; the space heater was welcome. The first night, after I'd said I was cold, the hosts turned the heat in the house up (you share the heating system with their home), and it got quite warm in my space; I told Elliott it was too warm, and following nights were fine.
The Shore cottage was everything we hoped it could be. Topanga Canyon was a fantastic respite in an ideal location to hike, surf and explore the city. The cottage is clean, bright, and cozy with all the amenities that we could have hoped for. We especially liked making coffee and breakfast in the kitchen before going out for the day to explore. Enjoying time away from a big city, the glass-walled bathroom looking out on bamboo was a relaxing highlight. We look forward to an opportunity where we can visit again.
