Such an oasis of peace! The fresh air, the lovely gardens, the quiet, the beautiful, super clean, studio, the kind, welcoming hosts! I didn't want to leave.
We really enjoyed staying at the Shore Private Cottage. The unit itself is very nicely constructed and appointed with quality furnishings and appliances. If anything the AirBnB description doesn't do justice to the place.
Elliot was a friendly host, unobtrusive yet clearly available if we had had any problems.
We don't know if we'll be back to the Topanga area again (our destination wish list is very long) but if we were, we would absolutely stay in the Shore Cottage again.
As with my last visit, Elliot was an impeccable host. There was a problem with the toilet, but he fixed it promptly and even offered to put my family up for the night in a hotel. This place is great and Elliot is fabulous.
Elliot is an attentive and respectful host. The cabin is surrounded by nature but modern and beautifully finished; the bathroom with its glass wall (totally private) was a treat. I loved my long weekend here and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a very Topanga - and comfy - experience.
Elliot was a fantastic host. He made checking in a breeze, made me and my mom feel completely comfortable and welcome, and responded to our every need. My brother Derek had been there the week before and complained of the cold bathroom and broken sleeper sofa. Well, by the time my mom and I arrived, the sleeper sofa had been replaced by a very comfortable one and a high functioning heater had been installed in the bathroom wall! He went above and beyond for everything.
This is a charming, lovely little house in the adorable Topanga Canyon, just two minutes' drive from the main shopping area (post office, pizza, fine dining, coffee shop, gourmet store, grocery store, etc). Super quiet and friendly neighborhood. I love it and will have all LA visitors stay here!
Elliot's cottage is perfect for an extended weekend getaway. Close enough to have access to the city, but tucked away nicely in quiet Topanga. The cottage is as described and looks just like the photos - the bathroom is great. The soaking tub outside (not a hot tub with jets) is fun - snug for two, but it was still nice to relax under the stars. The tub is semi-private: fenced on one side, but open on the one end with a sort of screen you can hang on a tree. The cottage has everything you'd need, but mostly we just relaxed, drank wine, and went in/out of the tub.
Elliot was a great host and made us feel welcome and had answers to everything we needed. Elliot lives on the property as well and parking is provided up a shared driveway.
Loved this garden cottage in the midst of gorgeous and eminently hike-able Topanga Canyon. We tested its limits with our four-person family + baby, slept well (fantastic bed in the master BR), and cooked up regular breakfasts and one lunch and one dinner in the kitchen without issues (we were mostly out and about during the days, however). Some of the canyon's coldest weather in years (nights close to freezing) challenged the installed heating system and we have recommended an additional space heater as backup. Also, we are assured we are the last guests who will have to wrestle with the somewhat-discombobulated (soon-to-be-former) sleeper sofa. Elliot is an easy-going and accessible host and we had no issues with communication. The kitchen was very lightly stocked on our arrival; I am guessing we cook more than the average AirBNBer (happily, there *was* coffee!). Shopping in the canyon (General Store or Canyon Gourmet) is expensive so we recommend stocking up on your way in. As for restaurants, my sister who lives nearby has recommended Water Lily cafe for light meals, Rocco's for pizza, and the Canyon Bistro for a serious sitdown (may wish to make a reservation there). Beware that the occasional accident in the canyon can easily stop all traffic (both directions, for one way out) for an hour or more.
What a beautiful place! My husband and I were in the area for a wedding in Pacific Palisades, and wanted to experience Topanga Canyon for the first time. Shore's is only a 10 minute drive from Santa Monica, and furnished with every comfort one could possibly need: an inviting and comfortable bed with soft and fluffy pillows, sheets and comforter, a lovely bathroom with plenty of thick and luxurious towels, good wifi and cable TV, closets and cabinets cleverly designed to hide away appliances, hangers, a fridge, dishes, cookware, etc., priceless peace, quiet, and fresh air, easy access to glorious hiking trails that offer canyon views down to the ocean...and so much more! Many thanks to Barbara and Elliot for an exceptional experience-
My husband and I had a great holiday trip at the cottage. Elliot was there to greet us when we arrived and show us around the place, and then he gave us our privacy. He was available, however, whenever we needed anything.
The cottage is the perfect size for a couple, and there's a full kitchen, which I used a few times, complete with cookware. The weather was even nice enough to sit out on the deck during the day. And we had full access to a washer and dryer, and all the supplies, which was a nice amenity.
Topanga is a great location--a good starting place for hikes, drives, and very close to the beach and coastline. It's also close to a few great restaurants and bakeries. We would happily return. Thank you, Elliot!
cool little pad, perfect for a getaway. I loved the outdoor bath! He also had amazing soft towels something that I really appreciate. Elliot was responsive and helpful. I would recommend.
