This place is better than the photos describe! It now has a baby grand piano and an old 1960s organ as well. We had a splendid time at this clean and wonderful spot. We will be back.
Not-A-Bank was a fun, thoroughly enjoyable place to stay. Bert was responsive to messages and the whole experience was just wonderful.
We had a great time staying Not A Bank. All the required amenities were present, and there is plenty to eat nearby. The bakery across the street was amazing; their almond croissant was out of this world.
Not much to see in town, but lots to do in the area. No AT&T service nearby, so get your directions before you leave Wi-Fi behind.
Bert's place was a very cool and unique experience! From the paintings and photos to the comfortable bed and amenities. I definitely will keep his place in mind when we want to go Oyster Shucking again in Tomales!
Bert was very prompt in all communications. From accepting my reservation request, to giving me all pertinent check-in information and helping me through a dead phone issue upon arrival.
Plus his 'book' of how everything works made everything easy to set up.
Not-A-Bank itself is awesome! Such a charming little town (grab a drink with Marcos next door, and definitely get something, anything from the bakery across the street). And I've never stayed somewhere so eclectic in its history and look and really everything.
Not a Bank is a really fun and funky spot. The location is excellent with a bar next door, great deli across the road and easy access to Point Reyes and the area. Everything was clean and in place. It was very cold when we arrived and the house takes time to warm up because of the impressive high ceilings. If you are heading there in winter it would be great if heating could be on before arrival. Once it warmed up it was very welcoming!
We didn't need very much from Bet but he was responsive to all questions prior to arrival.
The bathroom being downstairs is a little inconvenient but there are night lights in place and it is clean and functional.
Bed is super comfortable and we both felt a sense of a complete wind down being there - fresh air, good food and no tv for a couple of days was great.
There is DVD and Roku in the property but honestly it feels like a great opportunity to switch off.
Great wifi and verizon cell coverage was useful as the area is very spotty for any cell signal.
Overall a fun experience
Extraordinary home in a stunning location, jam packed with amenities to sooth our travel-weary souls! The biggest, most comfortable bed I've ever slept in too! We absolutely loved staying here, thank you so much. If we could have stayed longer we would have found much to enjoy with Bert's wonderful book collection - from poetry to graphic novels to recipe books, we were in heaven!
It was a nice artist loft and very relaxing get-away from the bay area. I would come back again and recommend it to those who are looking for a quite peaceful experience.
We had a lot of fun staying here. The inside is very well done, and we enjoyed having dinner by the propane-fueled fire stove. The bed was incredibly comfortable, as well. We also thought the town was super cute and were big fans of the deli sandwiches we got across the street.
What is not to love about "Not-A-Bank"?!!
This place is a hidden gem in the small town of Tomales, Ca. I have ridden by many times before and never known it was an awesome home inside. Bert was an easy host that had everything ready for us. We can't wait to come back again to stay longer.
Oh and if you have a piano player in your company....you HAVE to rent this place!
So Magical! Thanks Bert!
Glad we could accommodate Bert for a night. He was a great guest--communicated his plans, quiet, and left the studio in fine shape. He's welcomed back anytime.
