The Marquis' House is a fine example of the stately homes of Oratava.
It was cold and damp in the bedrooms and could do with a good clean as could the kitchen.
I will be fine in warm weather when the rooms will be warm and probably not damp.
It will need a woman's touch though to get the standard of cleanliness up to scratch.
Oratava is a very good town to explore the North part of the island , and no part is more than 90 minutes drive away.
Our stay in the Marquise house was wonderful. Juan is a great host, who makes you feel very welcome. We stayed with our daughter of two years and Juan was most forthcoming. He arranged a children's bed, purchased a cover specially for her and even washed her clothes.
The apartment has a great location. Close to nice beaches and towns. It has a great sunny terrace with a lovely view. We stayed in february and it could get very chilly at nights. The apartment has no central heating, so it could get a bit drafty in the house. Juan provided enough blankets to keep us warm though.
Thanks for a great stay!
Inge
Our stay meet our expectations regarding the house (old, spacious and charm full, as the pictures), the Town (old, scenery, nice people, genuine) and our host (helpful & polite).
The only thing to be aware of is the temperature, we stayed in La Orotava at wintertime and the room was somewhat cold.

Allez-y!
Private bedroom and shower facilities a bit basic but rest of house very good. Juan and Miguel very accommodating and helpful.
We stayed at Juans place for one week during this winter ( 2014). Already bevore we arrived, he answered a lot of inquieries and questions; he even send us a whole guide pdf which is better more detailed including personal detail and relevant info to your specific location: better then the lonely planet we bought ;-))
The building is very grand - if maybe a little austere - and it feels like you are stepping into a piece of history.
We stayed in a very nice double bed room with a beautiful own bathroom atached. The common living room has a hughe window from where you can see over the old town - great view!
Unfortunatly, we did not meet Juan himself, but his friend Miguel took good care of us : fresh towels every day, good recomendations where to go etc.
La Orotava is probably the most beautiful small town on the island!
My friend and I were astounded by the beauty of this grand home! Staying in such a beautiful, historically significant building was a unique experience that really added to our experience of La Orotava. Thank you to Juan and Miguel for your time and care. I highly recommend a stay at the Marquis' House, you will not be disappointed.
A grand stately house, with perhaps a bit of faded glory, but wonderfully evocative, extremely well placed in the center of La Orotava, probably one of the best towns in Tenerife. We had a terrific few days at the house, coming and going as we pleased, with some really attentive help from Juan (and Miguel) to ensure we got the most of our visit. As eating out was so cheap we didn't really use the kitchen except to make our picnic each day. It felt as though we were going back a hundred years or so, quiet, lofty, airy and smelling of fresh varnish on the floors. Fantastically hot water too I our jacuzzi bath. We used the free car park a few streets down which was convenient and close by. We went walking in the Anaga mountains, La Laguna, Santa Cruz, the local beach, Puerto de la Cruz, Galachico, and then took the extraordinary trip over the mountains to the volcano Tiede. It was a perfectly clear, blue sky day with a snow capped mountain, the crater was like a moonscape, we walked round the protruding rocks which was unbelievably picturesque. A great day. Thank you Juan for allowing us to briefly share your home.
excelente persona, respetuoso, amable, ordenado y de confianza. Recomiendo profundamente.
Excellent individual, respectful, tidy, and trustworthy. I highly recommend him.
