Picaflor is a nice guest house really close to the ruins, in a narrow street (so narrow that cars can´t get in), and very charming. At the street there is some water flowing like a small canal, it is really nice. The guest house is cozy and very clean, with a good shower, a good bed, good linen and towels, charming decor details. We stayed in 2 different rooms: for the first 2 days, a room on the ground floor, and the last night on the first floor. The first one was better. In the other one you can hear everything. Both had a problem: the doors had glass windows and the curtains were very thin -- not so good for privacy. Be aware in case you have lots of luggage: you have to tell the owner then she can contract someone to help. Although she wrote in her Airbnb page she would help with the luggage, when we arrived there, she said she couldn't do anything because her aid "was on his lunchtime". We had to insist: it wasn't just a matter of pushing suitcases for two or three blocks. The street is paved with cobblestones and that meant we would have to literally carry suitcases weighing 15 kilos or more.
Very nice in the middle of town, quiet, welcoming.everything you need in ollantaytambo
Thank you for staying with us and for being a pleasure to host. Happy travelling!
My husband and I stayed at Picaflor Tambo on our way to and from Machu Picchu last week. What a delight!! Hilda and her staff are so hospitable and helpful, and their B&B is beautifully maintained. Their guest house is very well situated for access to the city square, restaurants, the train station and the entrance to the national preserve in Ollantaytambo. Some of the ruins you can even access just a few steps from Picaflor's front door! A great morning walk! Hilda hosts a "Happy Hour" in the early evening which is a wonderful opportunity to meet the other guests, one of whom had a birthday while we were there and was celebrated with a cake, candle and song! My husband wasn't feeling while we were traveling, and Hilda went out of her way to help us get the attention he needed. She rearranged rooms so we could stay another night, and by the next day he was better. How appreciative we were of her caring nature. (We may not have made it to Machu Picchu if she hadn't been so accommodating.) Hilda is an amazing host and we highly recommend Picaflor Tambo as a place to stay in Ollantaytambo. You won't be disappointed! And on a side note, Ollantaytambo is delightful place to stay in general. Wish we could have stayed longer!!
We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay with us and to our country. We are very pleased you liked Ollantaytambo as much as we do.
We hope to see you again one day.
Wonderful! I'd stay here again in a heartbeat. Anyone considering a stay in the Sacred Valley/Ollantaytambo should consider this lovely space.
Thank you for your kind words and for stating with us.
Hilda and her staff made us feel very welcome. Hilda was available to help us with taxi arrangements and to recommend good restaurants in town, etc. The rooms are comfortable and authentically decorated. The beds and pillows were somewhat hard for our liking. Breakfast was Peruvian buns and coffee with choice of eggs.
Picaflor is located a short walk from the town square and many restaurants and coffee shops located around the square.
All in all we enjoyed our stay and would recommend Picaflor Tambo.
Many thanks Rick. We were very pleased you enjoyed your stay with us.
What a truly lovely place to stay. The home is wonderfully decorated with much attention to detail- beautiful art and Pachamama courtyard. The Wayna room and especially the bathroom was clean and comfortable. It's a very peaceful location below the Pinculluna ruins. Hilda and her daughters really make you feel welcome to their home and make a delicious breakfast in the morning. I cannot recommend this place enough!
Great stay. Characterful and charming place. On our first night the hosts got all the guests together for a welcome drink which was very nice.
We apreciate your comment, our team is working to provide you a better service.
What a little gem! We had the pleasure of staying at Picaflor Tambo for 4 days and had a great experience. In my opinion it looks a lot better in person than in the pictures shown, from the gorgeous door to the lovely balcony, to the eucalyptus scent, the fresh flowers, and stone -so many thoughtful details! Everything has a hummingbird, so cute!
We got there quite late at night and it was dark, when we woke up and saw the view from the BNB we were stunned, the views are quite stunning. We were greeted warmly by Liliana and she took great care of us. The next day we met the owner and she shared some pisco sour with us and other guests, that was a nice touch. I never asked the owner her name so I feel so bad, but she was so nice, warm, and present.
The room was super clean, the bathroom and shower were great, the bed was comfortable and warm.
The only thing I would suggest for light sleepers are earplugs because you can really hear everything -for the first night we had quiet neighbors but at the end of the stay there was a family with children and they were quite loud, it didn't bother us too much but I would suggest ear plugs if noise bothers you.
Overall, this BNB is gorgeous and you can tell someone has put a lot of love into it, I highly recommend it!
We loved Ollyantaytambo which is a most authentic Inca village with great restaurants, impressive Inca ruins and easy access to the train to Machu Picchu.
Nice B&B with good breakfast and attentive staff.
