I could not live without a bike, art, friends and active traveling. I search to offer a rewarding traveling experiencie through Casa Tezontle, a peaceful spot in Mexico City's Historic Downtown.

Great location for exploring el centro historico. Nice layout with plenty of space. I especially enjoyed having a balcony with a street view.
We arrived very early on Christmas Day, but Jano allowed us to check in early and made sure that someone was there to greet us. Providing some snacks for us to munch on was also a nice touch.
Thanks William. We hope to see you again.
Jano's place has a great location near Centro Historico and Bellas Artes. It was a large and beautiful home, excellent for a family. Thank you so much.
Thank you Lucia. We hope to receive you again. Thank you for your visit.
Jano and his associate, David, were excellent communicators and made us feel secure about arriving in Mexico City and at the apartment very late in the evening - it was all very well handled, and they graciously allowed us to check out late on our second day. The apartment is very well located in the Centro Historico and the premises are spotlessly clean, spare, attractive, with all the facilities that one might expect. Bedding was very comfortable. The apartment faces a street that has buses and emergency vehicles and there is some traffic noise, especially in the early morning hours.
Jano and Karolina were both amazing hosts! We had some issues with our bags on arrival, and they were flexible with our check in, and then again with our departure.
The place itself is gorgeous and a pleasure to hang out in, while also central and close to the metro. Super easy to get to and from the airport on the metrobus as well. I'd highly recommend staying at casa tezontle if you're in DF for a few days or more; it's a great base.
Thanks Bill, we love to help guests and we love being flexible with check in and check out hours. Keep enjoying and we hope to see you again in Mexico.
The apartment was amazing, clean and really well equipped. I loved it, I'd happily stay there again!
Jano and Karolina made a real effort to make us feel welcome and made sure that we have settled in. Karolina responds very quickly to questions, and Jano follows up to make sure that all is sorted.
The property offered much more than the description made out, and we were pleasantly surprised. Jano's property is situated in a ~400 year old building with loads of character and a very authentic feel. The inside is done up in a modern and minimalist way, leaving the place with an airy and spacious feel - an authentic casa with a modern inside!
We loved the various "spaces" that the property has to offer - from the sitting area in the lobby outside the front door, to the back door area looking into a quad of sorts. The property is on the second floor, after you have entered through big wooden doors - just like the casa's in the pictures - stunning!
On a practical level, the kitchen is well equipped as are the bedrooms. The metro bus line is right in front of the building, and taxi's can be hailed at the corners. The property is in an interesting part of the city and offers a lot that can be explored by foot (and we did it with a push pram and 2 young children)- just pay a visit to the post office building (even if you do not need to) and you will see what we mean! Saturdays are really nice to explore, by day or night time, with little street markets, street theatres etc. There were enough entertainment for the kids nearby (i.e. the zoo, museum of natural history, the Papelote children’s’ museum)
This was a great experience and a pleasant stay for us – thank you Jano and Karolina (and David, who let us into the property at 20h00 and still had to travel back to his house).
Thank you Jeremy, it was great hosting you. We hope you come back very soon.
This apartment is so lovely and in a very cool building and neighborhood. A ton of sites out your door. The host, Jano, was super easy to contact and made everything really easy. The person who was there to meet in person was so friendly and helpful. Loved staying here! Comfy beds, really cool building, nice simple decor, restaurant recommendations.. Highly recommend!
Thanks Sarah, we hope to see you again.
The apartment was great for 2 people. I slept on the top loft while my business partner slept on the bottom.
Jano left some ear plugs next to the bed (which I used to do when I would rent out my place in New York), but it was quite quiet on the street after 11pm. The fan upstairs helped with circulation and we slept with the windows open.
The apartment had everything we needed - we cooked once in the apartment and mostly ate out but had breakfast one day.
It was a great, central apartment in Mexico City. Most of our time was spent in Colonia Roma because that's where the coworking space was. Overall, the neighborhood was quite busy especially since we were there over the mexican independence day celebration.
If you rent this apartment, my strong recommendation is to get some Sopes from the older couple who makes food a few doors down in the evening.
I've stayed at a lot of Airbnbs and sometimes people don't have amenities like shampoo, or soap. This place has everything you need for a comfortable stay.
Thanks for your review. Feel very welcomed whenever you want to come back.
We really want to recommend this house. Reasons are below.
1. The owner is very kind.
2. The house is very clean and comfortable.
3. The location is very near from Metro station and easy to access everywhere.
4. There are many interesting books in the house.
5. The ceiling is very high. It means we feel the room bigger.
6. There is nice balcony.
7. The living room facilities are also good. For example, comfortable sofa , good audio system and useful kitchen.
Thanks Susumu. Please come back to Mexico!
El lugar es más lindo incluso que como se ve en las fotos. Está en una calle tranquila del Centro Histórico, en una casa espectacular. Jano y Karolina, que fue el contacto, se portaron increíbles.
Muchas gracias por el comentario. Esperamos volver a recibirte pronto.
Ce fut un couple très charmant, très discrets et très agréables en espérant que nos chemins se recroiseront un jour
Very kind and friendly traveller. Unfortunately, we were both so busy, and couldn't exchange enough.
Jano is a great guy and his apartment is fantastic! Very clean, well furnished, organized a true feeling of home when you walk in the door. We had a great vacation and coming home to the apt. was very relaxing after days of adventures & work.
I loved Casa Tezontle, it is even better than in the photos; spacious, very clean, tidy, very well equipped and comfortable. It was everything I needed. Jano was very hospitable. I would definitely recommend it.
To stay at Casa Tezontle was the best decision! Perfectly located to explore Mexico City by foot (we nearly didn´t need the metro): shops, bars, museums, eats, arty surroundings and a very nice and comfortable flat: just perfect! We found Casa Tezontle very clean and very similar to the photographs on Airbnb. Jano and Karolina are both very friendly and gave us very good advices for our next days in Mexico. Thanks a lot, Casa Tezontle.
Casa Tezontle and the people working there (Jano, Karolina) are amazing and unique! The house itself is beautiful, with History and quite special. On top of this, the house is in the main “Centro Histórico”, but in the peaceful section. This was definitely the coolest place I have stayed in Mexico City. Love it!
Jano is not only a great host, but also and amazing and interesting person. He is smart and fun to be with. If you happen to be traveling with him, expect a great time listening to some of the many stories he has collected from his trips all over the world!
Jano Mendoza and the rest of the personal in charge of Casa Tezontle are super nice and ever smiling. The house is clean, historic-stylish, and functional. It's in the hearth of Mexico City’s Downtown, not far from Bellas Artes, Zocalo, etc. You're anywhere in downtown walking. The nearest grocery store is in the corner, while the best restaurants are just a block away.
