I'm a South African doing my PhD in Engineering in London. I also have a creative side and enjoy art, design, photography, fashion and food. I’ve stayed at least one night in Swaziland, Namibia, Mauritius, Comoros, Edinburgh, Wales, Paris, Provence, Vienna, Munich, Berlin, Zurich, Zermatt, Kitzbuhel, Prague, Oslo, Stockholm, Amsterdam, Tokyo, Beijing, Hong Kong, Seoul, Cheongju, Toronto, Montreal, New York, Boston, Baltimore, Orlando, Denver, Palo Alto, San Francisco, Philadelphia and New Orleans. I wish I had known about Airbnb sooner!
I'm growing increasingly interested in the great outdoors and experiencing the natural beauty of a country, but my favourite things to do in a new city are to eat local specialty food, shop in boutiques and markets for handmade goods and local vintage items, admire architecture, learn about the history of a place, people-watch in cafes and parks, and weather permitting, explore different neighbourhoods by bicycle. Did I mention eating?
