Great place, great host, great location!
I visited Brent's property with a party of 6 in 2/2015. The property was exactly as described. There are two large living areas, formal dining area, stool seating on kitchen bar, fully functional kitchen. Outdoor space includes back porch, back yard with chairs and shade, front entry way with seating for dining outside, and balcony off the master bedroom overlooking the back yard. We
There are four good sized bedrooms with comfortable beds. There are additional chairs and love seats to give additional living space if you are with a large group. We loved our time in the house which provided a great space for vacation with a group of friends while offering the comforts of home!
The location is on a residential street and generally pretty quiet. I woke up in the mornings with the sounds of tropical birds chirping outside. As advertised, it is a three minute walk to the beach. The beach is right next to Sandals resort, which we did not use as the public beach was plenty good for us.
Brent offered to stop by and welcome us. He gave us tips on restaurants, nightlife, beaches, transportation, etc. He was readily available by message for questions like the wifi password (which he had already answered in our initial emails but I missed, whoops!).
I will definitely stay at Brent's the next time I am in Nassau if it's available. I've stayed in many hostels, hotels and homes in the Caribbean and Central America, and found this to be a perfect place for a relaxing vacation and couldn't have asked for more.
I had a wonderful stay. The house was exactly what I expected. Brent was kind enough to stop by and check on me the third day to make sure everything was ok and if I needed anything specifically. I had to leave a day early because of work, but I definitely look forward to staying there again. I great location and I hope to come back with friends.
My family stay at Brent's house had its ups and downs. Brent himself was a great host and gave us so many wonderful ideas of what to do around the area, he even came by the house to meet me and my boyfriend. The rest of the family wasn't coming until the next day. He got us reservations to a wonderful restaurant cafe matisse, which was delicious. He was super nice and really helped us out with things to do around the island.
When we got there, there was no hot water. Brent did call his plumber and got his contractor to come on that Saturday. The plumber came and was nice but I don't know why but it did not get fixed. I am not saying it was anyone's fault but we did not have hot water for the whole time we were there. It is not the worst thing in the world but going on vacation and not having hot water was not very pleasurable.
The house itself was beautiful, the pictures basically show the house well. I will say although Brent does need to get some work done on it, just some small things. The house was not as clean as I thought it should of been when we got there, but it would do. The area is gorgeous, a lot of good restaurants nearby. We took my Dad to Social house for his birthday Saturday, and they had great Japanese food. The Italian restaurant Caprriccio was delicious. The grocery store is in walking distance, starbucks and the liquor store. It was super easy for us to get around we either took the bus into downtown nassau or had our wonderful cab driver Jacob take us around.
The beach is close by just across the street, the public beach is right next to the sandals resort and technically all of it is public so you are good if you are on their turf.
I would recommend getting a day pass to a hotel one day, you have all the amenities and a pool to enjoy as well.
We had a lovely time regardless of some things, I will say it is false advertisement having the big T.V. in one of the pictures and it not working, not that we were going to watch a lot of T.V. but it didn't work and neither did any of the other ones. One of the faucets was not working in the guest bedroom either.
I would want to eventually stay at Brent's house again, he was very reliable. But, I would make sure that everything is really set to go for us before we get there next time.
I didn't want to come across the wrong way but the house needs some work! Broken window in the back living room, main tv not working, lights not working, master bedroom sliding door doesn't lock, rusting sink and only 1 tap working in the master bedroom bathroom. Also little to no accessories in the kitchen to cook or clean with. Not to mention the broken table in the courtyard. My wife would have been upset with the condition of the place but it was "ok" for my buddy and I. Brents a great guy which is really the best thing about the rental and probably why not too many negative reviews on the house. One week of work in the house with a good reno guy and the place would be awesome. Just my opinion for your future guests ! Did appreciate your hospitality and would consider coming back if you decide to do the minor repairs. All the best.
Absolutely LOVED it!!!
I had a wonderful time in Nassau, thanks to Brent and his marvelous house! The rooms are very spacious, clean and nicely done up. The house has absolutely everything you need - Internet, luxurious furniture and a fully equipped kitchen. If you prefer going out for dinner, the house is situated perfectly in a calm but well-developed neighborhood. Restaurants and the paradisal Cable Beach are situated closely (appr. 5 walking minutes). If you wish to explore the Island or take part in activities the bus stop in front of Sandals Hotel can take you everywhere (also, most operators will offer to pick you up here).
Brent was very friendly and helpful. He helped me with problems, had good advice where to go for dinner and also brought me to the airport (thanks again, Brent!). My experience with Brent and this place in particular was really unsurpassable - just like the Bahamas :)
Vielen, vielen Dank!
Hope to see you again as soon as possible ... ;-)
Another great stay at Brent's property in Nassau. Since our last trip he's had even more landscaping done out front and added a cover to the parking area. We'll be back again in January!
The cleaning lady was there to meet me and give me the key when I arrived. The house is optimally located - minutes away from the beach and was within walking distance of the meeting I had for the week. Very comfortable and lovely garden.
Beautiful home - tons of light and space. I couldn't have chosen a better place to spend my time in Nassau. The location is really second to none and it's clearly well taken care of.
It was a pleasure to host Brent and from all account he enjoyed his stay at the Cottage.
