My name is Andrew, and I am a New Zealander working in New York at the United Nations. I chose to live in Hell's Kitchen because it is such a vibrant neighbourhood, and I can walk to work from here to the UN, straight across town.
I love taking photographs, and most of the large black and white pictures on the wall of my apartment I took myself. I also love to cook, which is why I chose an apartment with a great kitchen. But there are so many great (and cheap!) places to eat just steps from home, that the kitchen is not used often at all. I would be happy to share my recommendations and tips for the best places and hidden secrets in the neighbourhood.
I also love music and theatre, and even after living here for 3 years I still can't believe how lucky I am to be able to walk from home to a Broadway show in ten minutes - or to be able to get to the Opera at the Met in 15.
Being a New Zealander I also love the outdoors - skiing, surfing and swimming. That's a little more challenging to do in Manhattan, so I like to travel as much as I can to escape the hustle of New York and get myself to a beach or into the mountains.
