I´m a lawyer and like skiing and running.
We (3 adults, 1 child) had a wonderful time at Hildur's house. It felt like home and we all slept like babies each night. The house is very spacious and bright with lots of windows - especially the one looking out at the lake. We were lucky enough to see the Northern lights right outside the house one evening. The house is very convenient for visiting Reykjavik if you have a rental car, and there is a grocery store 5 minutes away. We appreciated that Hildur was quickly responsive when we arrived earlier than expected and when needed to borrow a hairdryer. Overall, this is a very comfortable and convenient base for a visit to Iceland, and we would highly recommend it. September 2013
It certainly is a 'beautiful house': modern, stylish, very comfortable, superb location with lovely views and very convenient for access to Reykjavik and other main routes. We had everything we needed, including some food 'essentials' kindly provided for our arrival. We wished we could have stayed longer and were sorry to leave. We would strongly recommend this house and host to anyone wanting a luxurious base for holidaying in Iceland.
Four of us stayed in this beautiful house over new year. We had such a great time, and Hildur's amazing house was central to this – fantastic design, cleverly using wood, metal and concrete to create a contemporary, airy space. Despite the time of year the house still felt cosy though, and the under floor heating was very welcome.
Hildur also left the house spotless for us, with brand new towels and a stocked fridge full of everything we could imagine needing for our breakfasts for the next few days. She even got us some a festive Christmas tree made of lights.
The location of the house was also great for us, ideally located outside of the city to appreciate the other worldly Icelandic countryside (and a great spot for the Northern Lights) but still only a short drive / taxi ride away. Of our 4 night stay we ate in Reykjavik for 2 nights, and it didn't feel a long journey back and forth. And nothing can challenge the amazingly huge front window, showcasing the view. Sit here with your morning cuppa and, like we did, wonder if Hildur would mind if we just moved in...permanently.
