Dear Anna: I think this is one of the unfairest reviews I have seen in Airbnb so far. The sentence "Dirty towels were however left on arrival, due to the host not being in England and not being able to monitor the state of the apartment." is really disgusting and inconsistent. I will try to explain why I totally disagree with your biased comment:
1.-Not monitoring my apartment? As per professional reasons I have to travel. But this has never any impact on my guests. I have a dedicated team (cleaner, assistant to give/pick the keys and handyman), who are ready to provide any kind of support almost immediately. They are all in London SE1. Please read all the reviews.
2.-I was in touch with your father 5 times during his 8 days stay, via (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN). I always exchange social messenger messengers with my guests so I can solve any situation ASAP no matter where I am. In his particular case, when I asked "How are things?" several times he always replied "All Good", without any mention to any situation I could improve, including towels being dirty. If he had mentioned that to me I would have taken immediate action or ask for apologies. Even if some towels could have been dirty, my apartment has 10 clean towels ready to be used by guests. My cleaner washes all of them each time a guest leaves, or every 2 weeks if the booking is longer than a week (and also on their departure). Very disconcerted he (you) mentioned nothing until he left.
3.-The booking was not for yourself, but for your Dad and sister. The Airbnb public should know that you are reviewing me from Australia without having spend a second in my property. Totally unfair. You say "everything we needed"... again... YOU WERE NOT THERE so how can you review me or even say I didn't monitor the apartment? Ask your father, this statement is totally untrue. He knows I was permanently in touch with him.
4.-My assistant told me that your father was cranky even before he opened the door. I understand a 24 hours flight maybe makes you tired but his mood has nothing to do with me.
5.-Your Dad said it was his first Airbnb experience. From his comments I think he doesnt get the Airbnb concept as I believe he expected to have a maiden and a waiter 24 hours at his service. I tried not to be impacted by his comments but next time he better goes to a full serviced 5 stars Hotel.
6.-I left a very nice review for their stay as everything went fine and smart during his visit. I wanted to minimise everything described above to myself. But now that I see your "2nd hand" comment, I have very different views. Unfortunately my nice review goes to your user, without you having visited my property. I hope Airbnb can amend that. I really have second thoughts after your comment. Now that I know that you/him were unable to bring things upfront to find solutions but instead preferred to make a public unfair reviews I would definitely change my comments and marks, as I wouldn't recommend to host Airbnb guests like yourself: Booking on behalf of other people and reviewing without having any idea on other's perception of Airbnb philosophy or experiences is poor. And pretending to be where you haven't been is really unacceptable.
To whoever concerns at Airbnb: I have (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) Screenshots to demonstrate all described above if needed.
