Hey, I'm Mylee!
Sydney, New South Wales, Australia · Member since July 2012

I am a librarian. I enjoy travel, meeting people and I've worked with people of all ages and from many different backgrounds as colleagues and library clients, including being a children's librarian for a number of years. I guess in my case the librarian stereotype could be true - I'm quiet and enjoy seeing museums and galleries, heritage buildings and discovering new places and trying the local food.

Five things I can't live without ... water, wifi, a good cup of coffee, friendly conversation and learning new things. My favourite travel destinations have included outback Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, India, Italy, Ireland, Canada (BC) and Hawaii. My reading tastes are pretty eclectic ... Lord of the Rings / Tolkein, People of the Book / Brooks, Pride and Prejudice / Austen, Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress / Dai Sijie, Discword series / Pratchett and celebrity cookbooks. I love exploring new cusine - luckily here in Sydney we have a huge variety of multicultural places to try. I enjoy live theatre, musical theatre, ballet, concerts and I've even been to the opera once to see Teddy Tahu Rhodes in Dead Man Walking.

Airbnb appeals to me as a chance to stay somewhere unique and more personal than a hotel, to meet local people and experience what it's like to live in a place, I guess I am more of a traveller than a tourist. Although I'm new to Airbnb, over the years I have had many room mates / flat mates and house guests. I enjoy extending hospitality and I understand how important it is to respect the host's space and house rules to ensure it's a great experience for all concerned.

My life motto is inspired by Ralph Waldo Emerson who said "To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children...to leave the world a better place...to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded."
