I´m from Southern California. I first moved to Cosa Rica and bought this property in 1990 and stated this business. I enjoy surfing, golf and gardening. I enjoy running business and meeting people from all around the world.

Host was welcoming and helped us with transportation. Took us himself to get river taxi and also asked friends to help. Gave us the use of his phone to arrange tours. Always checked to see how we were doing. Showed us how to get to beach, grocery stores, restaurants, etc. We met a few people in Tamarindo who knew the host and the people in Playa Grande seemed to respect him very much.
My wife and I stayed at Kai's casita for 8 nights, and we had an amazing time. The beautiful (and very quiet) beach is a short 5 minute walk from his property. There were howler monkeys in the tree tops several mornings, along with a variety of other wildlife.
The casita itself is a very cool little place to stay. Complete with a fridge and hotplate, we did quite a bit of our own cooking. There is a small mini-mart right down the road, but I'd recommend stopping at a larger market before you arrive to stock up on essentials. My wife and I didn't rent a car, so Kai generously offered to drive us to the nearby town so we could pick up some groceries.
There are plenty of restaurants within walking distance and surf shops just down the road. Playa Grande is an amazing place to surf. We rented bikes from one of the shops and make a trip to the palm estates for a day. I even had the chance to try some hand-line fishing.
Kai was a gracious host, and couldn't have been nicer. His property is a little slice of paradise, and we were both sad to have to leave. I can't recommend Kai's place enough. If you want to avoid large crowds and enjoy a peaceful stay in the jungle near the beach, this is the place. You won't be disappointed.
Kai met us right away when we arrived to help us get situated. He gave specific instructions about the area, how to get to the beach, how the water drinking conditions were and gave us a tour of the house. It was great.
My stay at Casita Linda Vista was simply amazing. Kai was a phenomenal host--very responsive to email throughout the booking process, accommodating when my flight was delayed and so helpful in answering any questions once I arrived in Playa Grande. I cannot say enough about how much I loved the casa and casita I stayed in. The property is beautifully maintained and the houses are kept very clean--I spent a couple days just hanging around the house because it was so relaxing. Playa Grande is a gorgeous beach just a few minutes away, and there are many little beach towns just a short drive away (Playa Brasilito and Bahia de los Piratas are especially nice). I highly recommend booking with Kai. It was truly a pleasure to meet him and stay at Linda Vista. I look forward to coming back!
Kai was a perfect host, there to greet us when we arrived. He was helpful and friendly, was there when we needed him and respected our space. Casa Azul was was accurately described, actually under described...it was perfectly darling. The neighborhood was friendly, the little nearby market had what we needed and every restaurant we ate we loved, especially the wonderful breakfasts at "Rip Jacks" and burgers at "Shakes".
Kai and Ruth are great hosts! The little home was very comfortable for our family and we had lots of fun spotting various wildlife, including a troop of congo monkeys one morning. We had a wonderful time staying at the secluded location. The town of Playa Grande had plenty of activities and a nice small market at the end of Kai's drive which was a quick 300 meter walk away. I would suggest this location to individuals looking for a wonderfully quiet, well equipped home to stay in while looking to explore the beach.
What a wonderful time we had at the Casa Azul! Fabulous little beach town with the beach super close by, but without the congestion or feel of a tourist town. Our host (Kai) was completely welcoming! We had car trouble, and so he went to pick us up and bring us to the Casa Azul. He showed us all around the property, even letting us look through his other unoccupied homes. He offered his surfboards for the day, and checked occasionally to see if we needed anything. Great place for sure!!
This was an awesome place to stay! Quiet, beautiful, clean, simple. Kai is an outstanding host and has a love for his place and the community. The smoothie machine was more important than having AC. The open air design of the structure connected us with the birds, monkeys, iguanas, sunrise/set -- Costa Rica... Easy access to the beach and the humble village of Playa Grande. The new stove was difficult to cook with -- never got really hot, (if you want to be a chef while on vacation), would love to have access to a grill though.
Kai and Ruth (the owners) made our stay at Casa Azul wonderful! Not only was the property beautiful and close to the beach (a short walk down a marked path), but it was private enough that my Dad and I had our own space to enjoy at the end of the day. The home itself (one of several on the property) was clean, well equipped, and the perfect size for 2-4 people. Thanks again Ruth and Kai, for your hospitality, flexibility, and advice on local activities to take advantage of!
Wow what a beautiful place, the house is perfect to relax and have an amazing time! House is even nicer than the pictures! I would absolutely stay there again! Kai was super nice and always checked if we were having a great time and is always available to answer questions!
