Exactly what you'd want in a Hudson Valley cabin: cozy, quiet, clean, great location for activities, art, food. Melissa provides the cookware, fridge, and stove if you want to stay in and cook. The beds are nice, and the grounds are great. Complete with hammock.
Melissa is a perfect host: bright, congenial, helpful, thorough. Her suggestions are excellent.
We will be back!
We loved Melissa's place. She was very flexible and easy to work with. The cabin was comfortable, tastefully decorated and yet rustic, which I thought to be a plus. And the distance from NY is just perfect. We will definitely come back next year.
I highly recommend Melissa's bungalows.
What a delightful weekend! The cabin was just too cute for words. Melissa is a delightful and accommodating host-- I only wish I had discovered the Tin Roses Bungalows earlier in the year... I'll definitely be back next summer!
We had a truly relaxing time at the bungalow with our dog, Hobbes. Thanks to Melissa for her warm hosting and great recommendations for places to eat in the area. Fantastic place to stay in a beautiful setting, we hope to be coming back again!
We stayed in Tinroses for two night while exploring the Hudson Valley area. The cabin had a 1950's charm and gave us the peace and quiet we were looking for! It does get a little chilly at night in the Fall, but Melissa provided a space heater and we put an extra blanket on our bed to keep toasty. Beacon is an easy 20 min drive away with tons of cute restaurants and shops, not to mention Dia Beacon and the ferry to Bannerman Castle. We're already talking about when we'll have our next visit to Tinroses!
I had a wonderful stay with my parents and brother. The property is gorgeous and the bungalow has nearly everything one might need--except maybe a wine bottle opener :) The space heater was key as the autumn nights were a bit crisp. Melissa and her dad were great to converse with the little that we crossed paths. I would definitely come back on some warmer weekends, especially when the lake is ready for swimming.
We loved our stay at the Tinrose away from Manhattan. The smell of sweet grass and the orchestra of crickets took me back to the California country side where I grew up. Quick ride to Minnewaska State Park, several farmers stands and on the way home, we stopped at Storm King Art Center. The cabins are adorable- this one is on the outer end, so has the most privacy- although only one other cabin was occupied during our stay (after labor day). The property is very quiet and the lake is stunning. The evenings were chillier than we expected...We wanted to make a fire one night in the fire pit and Melissa's father who lives on the property (and has all his life, for 72 years!) saw us struggling with the wet wood we had foraged and helped us by offering some dry kindle from the shed. He made sure we got the fire was ablaze and also offered us some mosquito repellent which Melissa repeatedly reminded us to bring but we still forgot. Very kind and helpful. The stay felt somewhat like camping under a roof- mostly because the cabin had no hot water at all which made it impossible to shower with the chilly weather and difficult to wash dishes. Not sure if this is standard for the cabins or was a fluke? Anyway all in all, we loved our stay, it was a magical trip and we will definitely return.
My boyfriend and I really enjoyed our stay at the Tinroses Bungalows. Melissa was a great host. The bungalows are centrally-located to great sights but also very quiet and secluded. The furnishings are super cute and hip. We enjoyed using the grill a lot. The full kitchen was an awesome amenity, as well. We'll definitely be coming back!
What a lovely little getaway this is. My husband and I went for a weekend away from the city. It is such a charming gem of a place! It's the perfect place to really relax and settle in. Sitting on the screen porch at night and just listening to the crickets and the wind blowing through the trees...wonderful. Melissa is a sweet host, very welcoming and very kind. She brought us an extra blanket when it got unexpectedly chilly. Very thoughtful! I would stay here again in a heartbeat!
My sister and I found Melissa's bungalows for a last minute get-away from NYC. It was PERFECT, from Melissa going above and beyond as host, to the bungalow's beautiful setting and decor! It was so comfortable and clean, simple but well equipped kitchen, warm comfy beds, perfect furniture on a screened-in porch, quiet, peaceful and VERY private. We would have been stranded having no car with us, but because it was mid-week, Melissa offered to help us out and took us hiking/swimming in her favorite spots, picked us up and dropped us off at the Beacon train station and to check out New Paltz (but good to know that a car is necessary, if and when we return and she's busy which I think is more often the case!!). Melissa is a gracious spirit, too, and this added to the entire peaceful retreat. We will return!!
Melissa was a great guest! Very nice and easy to communicate with. Left the place in great condition and followed the house rules. Would definitely recommend her as a guest and would gladly welcome her back in the future.
