We had a wonderful stay with James and Laura. Their apartment was exceptionally clean, well apointed and perfect for our stay. They were kind enough to leave coffee (which we forgot), milk and eggs for us. We were lucky enough to be introduced to the cows - Lucy is adorable! The views are spectacular.
James and Laura obviously put hard work into their place and it shows. We could not have had a better stay. Great communication! Thanks so much - Ken and Ellen
James and Laura are fantastic hosts and made our stay a delight. We were welcomed immediately upon arriving and given a tour of the farm and our accommodations. The property is nestled fairly high up in the mountains and offers spectacular views of the surrounding area. We timed our trip just right and the view of the fall foliage was amazing. Our room was cozy and spotless, and there was even a crib set up for our two year old daughter. Laura delivered a wonderful continental breakfast early the next morning and James gave us personal tour of the farm as he fed Prudence the pig and Lucy the cow. Our daughter loved seeing the animals and James and Laura even let us feed apples to the cows straight from the tree! We really appreciate the effort that was made to make us feel welcome though it seemed completely effortless for hosts as genuinely generous as these two. We couldn't recommend the Perry Family Farm more highly and will certainly stay here again when we're back in the area.
Thanks, James! We had a very nice short stay up on the farm. We even bought some meat to take with us. All a great experience. We loved that it was off the beaten path but still allowed us to have a great dinner in Montpelier--thanks for the recommendation. Lovely room and pretty much like-new in all respects. Such a treat.
We had a wonderful, relaxing time on the farm! The bedroom and bathroom were impeccably clean, and the bed and pillows were comfortable. Laura delivered breakfast to us both mornings we were there, with excellent strong coffee. James gave us recommendations for places to eat dinner, which was a great help since we have never been to the area. Their farm is down a quiet lane, so it is perfect for getting away from it all. I loved watching the farm animals in the morning from our bedroom window. And the views of the surrounding mountains from the window were breathtaking. We highly recommend this accommodation - great hosts and comfortable, clean room!
We spent a beautiful weekend at this property amongst a gorgeous landscape of the Green Mountains and the Fall foliage was fantastic. James and Laura are most courteous hosts and their apartment is perfectly comfortable in which to relax and enjoy the scenery. Accessible to charming Vermont restaurants and neighbourhoods. highly recommend.
The place was perfect and it was really easy to get to. James was very kind to give me a call to check up on our travel and arrival time. Because we got there pretty late, they were so sweet in leaving us exact signs on the doors and the lights on which made it easy to spot the house ; the place at night look absolutely beautiful--calm and serene. It was fantastic. The apt itself was fantatic--clean, spacious and as advertised with all the amenities we would need. They were kind enough to provide us with farm fresh eggs, milk and coffee. Laura and James even introduced u to their cows and showed us around. It was a delightful place to unwind for a few days and being out away from the city , this was exactly what we needed. I would highly recommen this for anyone looking for a quick getaway from the city.
James and Laura did an excellent job in every respect: they made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived and were flexible in adjusting to our arriving later in the day than we'd expected. The apartment was clean and cozy, very welcoming. We needed an extra desk/work table, so James immediately brought one in. The family welcomed us to their campfire one evening and were always happy to chat, and also happy to give us privacy. We had a little mishap (a bicycle fall) and the hosts were very warm and caring in the aftermath. Overall, we'd come back here in a heartbeat.
The deck has an excellent gas grill and the backyard in huge and very nice to explore, with a little pond about fifty paces from the house. The animals are beautiful and it's extremely still and peaceful.
Advice: if you plan to cook seriously, consider bringing a set of cooking knives (there was one small one in the apartment, though the hosts offered to lend us some).
The night sky is lovely - no light pollution, so the milky way looks like a cloud.
The listing was accurate all the way around. The place is beautiful, everything needed is provided, and the hosts are accommodating. They were very friendly, happy to give a tour of the animals, and answer any questions. Readily available through email while there, and the housing was the perfect size for 2. Four people can sleep there and I believe it would be comfortable in that instance too.
Wish We could have stayed longer.
James and Laura made us feel very comfortable from the start. Their communication about how to access the room was excellent. The room is open, airy, and cheerful. Laura even cut beautiful fresh flowers from the garden to decorate the bedroom and bathroom. The setting, on the farm, is very special. In the morning we had a delicious breakfast before setting off to bike around bucolic Northfield. Our hosts gave us great recommendations for our trip and a warm farewell.
We thoroughly enjoyed our two-day stay at the Perry Farm. Our hosts were delightful, the room was lovely, spacious and very well kept, and our breakfasts each morning were delicious. Our hosts welcomed our interest in seeing all the animals and provided really helpful suggestions of local spots to visit. Highly recommend!
James was easy and interesting to host. Having a set up somewhat like ours (he has more livestock and we have horses) it was great to hear what he has done on his farm and about his own B&B in Vermont. It looks like a wonderful place.
Absolutely fantastic guests. Lots of fun. The kids looked like they were having fun. The boat was in very good shape!
