We are former Brooklynites who traded in our city lives for some country living.
We had a great time! Escaping NYC from the noice, this was exactly what we were looking for. In the middle of the countryside, but not too far away from NY; about 2,5 hours drive. Beautiful surrounding, quiet and the only thing to awake you are the roosters running around. The barn is simple but cosey and comes with everything u need. No internet and no tv proved to be eacctly what we needed!
The kidsespecially loved it. All the animals walking around, doing poneyrides with Larissa's daughther and helping Larissa with all the chores. She is great by the way!
We spent the afternoon in Hudson; a cute tiney town with lots of antique shops.
All in all we have a great relaxed weekend...and that was exactly what we needed. Thanks!
We came up here for a fun-filled family weekend, hoping to catch some early signs of Spring with our daughters aged 6 and 2. It didn't feel like Spring but the apartment was warm and cozy. Larissa and Chris were very friendly and accommodating. Our older daughter loved the animals - petting and feeding the horses, taking a pony ride and lesson and collecting eggs. Hard to know which was her favorite thing to do. Would gladly recommend the farm experience!
We had a fantastic time last weekend at the farm. Larissa and Djuna were wonderful hosts. My family (including two kids, 8 and 3) loved meeting the animals and taking rides on Bugsy, the sweetest of ponies. Djuna offers private riding lessons for kids, and my son really enjoyed riding with her. The house is great, both homey and clean, and it was warm (wood stove!) even in February. The kitchen is well equipped for cooking, and the sleeping loft is also really cool. Overall this was a fantastic experience, right down to the fresh eggs, still warm from the chickens. We hope to come back soon!
My boys (ages 8 and 9) and I had the most amazing time here. Deciding to forgo the all-inclusives and take a chance, we were thrilled with our Farm Stay, even though we visited during the dead of winter! Larissa and her daughter Djuna were terrific hosts, introducing me and the boys to the horses, ponies, rabbits, chickens, goats and, our favorite, Emmy - a sheep who thinks she's a goat. Djuna showed us where to find fresh eggs and took my son on a pony ride in the snow. We were in driving distance of skiing, tubing, great food (Yellow Deli!), and Howe's Caverns. We had all we needed to cook and plenty of heat (wood burning stove!). We can't wait to come back again this summer. In the meantime, I'll be recommending the Farm to all the city kids we know!
Had a great stay! We went for New Year's and it was very cozy (in a good way) for 2 couples and another friend. The place was clean and a nice mix of modern and rustic. Nice, updated bathroom and kitchen. We got the wood stove cranking—there was plenty of wood on hand. We cooked all our meals, and were even able to source a chicken from a woman mentioned in the helpful house binder.
Cell phone reception was spotty, but that's mentioned in the description. We could send still get a few calls and texts out, however.
The property itself is quite lovely too. Waking up to the sound of roosters, and looking across the field out the big picture windows was quite magical. We'd love to come back in the summer, or alternatively when there's more snow for cross country skiing.
And Larissa was a very attentive and responsive host. She was quick to get back with any questions. All in all a nice experience.
We had so much fun at the farm over Thanksgiving week-end ! We loved the pony ride, feeding the animals, petting the bunnies (and some of the chickens !), laughing at goats and sheeps jumping and looking at dogs and cats running around. We also really enjoyed the craft activity with the wool : carding, needle felting, sewing ... The cottage is comfortable and cozy. Larissa and her family were very welcoming and patient with our 4 daughters. We can't stop thinking of our next stay in Spring !
We headed up to Honey Hollow farm on a freezing cold November weekend. Whilst we didn't have spend much time outside the cottage was cozy and had everything we needed to enjoy our weekend. Larissa was great and very patient with introducing all of the animals to our toddler. A great stay and we hope to return when the weather warms up!
Chris and Larissa were great hosts! The cottage was warm comfortable, and provided everything we needed for a weekend retreat from the city. Wish we could have stayed longer.
Loved the farm. Larissa and her family are great hosts.
As you pull into the drive way, the chuck taylors thrown over the power line is a subtle reference to the streets of Brooklyn, but this is a country get away complete with fireplace, ponies, goats, nature trails, pond, hens and a randy rooster. I would highly recommend for a farm stay, where you can be an independent explorer of the surroudning countryside and wilderness. Would highly recommend Hudson on your way up and Saugerties on your way down. Larissa even brought us fresh eggs. Thanks Larissa for a great stay.
