Excellent location in San Rafael, great hosts, wonderful atmosphere, pretty much perfect in every way.
The host at the SAN RAFAEL STUDIO is warm, inviting and attentive. We appreciated the clean space, easy access to parking and private entrance, in-space washer/dryer and generous closet space - particularly because our stay was over 45 days. The street is very quiet and the hilly area was pleasant to walk around in the evening. Close to SF, East Bay and local shops and wonderful food options, this location can feel like home very quickly! The extra and notable excellent bonus was that this is a pet-friendly location: fresh and well-cared for studio space. Many thanks to K for amenities, kindness, and generosity.
Nice studio on a hill in a quiet part of San Rafael. The studio has a separate kitchen which is big enough to sit down and eat. It has everything you need to stay there for a few days. We were on a road trip and were able to do some washing, cooking and were able to slow down from traveling around.
San Rafael itself is not the most exciting city, but it was easy to get to San Francisco (by car as well as by Ferry) and it is also nice to visit wine country (Napa and Sonoma) from here.
Although the studio is part of the main house where Keith and his family members live, it is very private with a separate entrance. The house is a bit noisy, but everyone did their best to keep the noise down. So it didn't bother us at all, but it is something you need to be aware of when you stay here.
All in all, a nice place to stay with a lot of possibilities around San Rafael.
Because of our schedule, we spent little time at the Studio and never had a chance to meet Keith. However, at the outset he encouraged us to find time to say hello and responded quickly to queries.
The Studio is perfectly adequate but does not have the charm or amenities (eg coffee maker, hair dryer) that we have had in Marin airBnB rentals at minimally higher daily rates. (However, Keith did provide a 6-pack of beer and 2 bottles of Tequila, which we have never had in such a rental before).
I enjoyed my stay at this quaint studio. It was a great landing pad for me being new to the area. Keith was very hospitable and helpful. He was easy to get a hold of, answered questions very quickly and solved any issues as they arrived. The studio itself was comfortable, clean, and felt safe and secluded.
Kitchenware is limited, so if you are considering a stay here, my only suggestion would be to bring your own cutting board and knife so that you can at least make salads.
Overall, I enjoyed my time here and would recommend it to friends and family.
Keith met us at the appointed time and showed us the AirBnB rental, which is a large studio with king bed, sofa, desk, flat-screen TV, and large closet (behing the mirrored doors on photo.) There is a separate, full kitchen with large side-by-side refrigerator, gas stove, sink and dining table with two chairs. There is a large bathroom with tub-shower, with an alcove where there are a clothes washer and dryer. A small, table top ironing board are included, in case you have a travel iron. Outside, there is a patio table and two chairs on a very private, fenced, cement patio. The vine-covered fencing around the studio provide complete privacy.
The outstanding thing about this AirBnB is that Keith allows well-behaved pets, and we travel with our indoor cat. Many listings in AirBnB do not allow pets, so this, plus the excellent location, made Keith's studio a very good choice for us. We stayed three weeks, visiting nearby family.
The rooms are what I would call "basic." They make a good base from which to visit the area, a place to make some meals or enjoy takeout, do your laundry, etc. The sofa is worn but serviceable, as are the floor coverings. If you are spending time away from the unit, are staying a matter of weeks rather than days, perhaps have a pet, and want a Marin County location, this AirBnB rental is a good deal.
Keith seemed most responsive to our needs, and provided privacy. You can see the Richmond-San Rafael bridge, lit at night, from the window as the locatin is high up on "Lincoln Hill" above the city of San Rafael, but only a five minute drive into the business district. There you will find everything you could possibly want, including Trader Joe's and Whole Foods, and numerous restaurants and shops. You can probably be in San Francisco in 15 minutes over the GG Bridge. And San Rafael is sunny on foggy San Francisco summer days!
Stayed at Keith's place for 3 days...great space extremely quiet and perfect for a single person. Even though your hosts are above you, I barely heard anything when I was there. Easy access to 101 was great too.
Keith is a warm and professional host. I enjoyed staying at GRACELAND,
and would absolutely stay here again. I particularly enjoyed all the
sunlight that filled the room each day, the beautiful neighborhood, and the
close proximity to everything in Marin. It was a pleasure.
My stay in Keith's space was pleasant and refreshing. He was a gracious host and went as far as calling me (the day before Father's Day) to tell me that he couldn't help himself from washing my car because he had just washed his son's car. I call that 'above and beyond hosting' responsibility!
Thank you Keith for making my stay so memorable. :-)
My boyfriend and I really enjoyed our stay at Keith's. We were able to bring our puppy with no extra charge. Keith himself was easy going, attentive, and friendly. He didn't have strict time constraints on check-in or check-out which as really nice for us.
His place was very clean, comfortable, and private. The studio actually has two private entrances - one near the front of the house and one near the back. There is also a narrow private patio with a chair and table if you want to relax outside. Also, I noticed that one of the previous reviews talked about how the bathroom is in the same room - this is true. But Keith now has a thick brown curtain that cordons off the kitchen/bathroom area from the rest of the space. This worked just fine for us!
Overall, we had a really nice stay at Keith's . It was the perfect little spot for a 3-night getaway!
Keith and Family tks for staying at our place and keeping our plants alive with plenty of water through the heat wave.
It was great to have Keith and his family stay at our place over Christmas. Keith is a traveller who is keen to explore and make the most of his stay. I would recommend Keith as a guest.
It was great to meet Keith and share our experiences as airBNB hosts. As a guest, he was great and left everything in pristine condition. I look forward to hosting him again on his next Princeton visit.
