I worked in the turism industry for many yrs. Please have a look at all the apartment listed on my profile. They are all very nice and very well located.
Myself and three others had a great weekend in Lucca and at Marco's apartment. It's really central and close to all the main attractions, but we also found if we walked in the other direction for 5 minutes, we found plenty of non touristy restaurants and quirky bars.
The apartment it's self was warm and cosy, we felt right at home. It could have been cleaner although I am fussy about such things, however all the beds were made nicely and we had fresh towels.
Marco was helpful and very quick at communicating which was great, and his brother who checked us in gave good recommendations for dinner and drinks. Overall great stay!
Marco's apartment is fabulously located in a quiet area in the centre of Lucca. Classical music could be heard from the adjacent building, which was quite nice. We found Marco to be quite prompt with returning emails and phone calls when we were arranging our arrival time. There is no washing machine, however we found a laundromat nearby. The kitchen is tiny, so we didn't attempt any cooking during our one week stay. But with so many eating options in Lucca that wasn't such a bad thing.
Lucca itself is a great town. The pedestrian and bicycle friendly streets make exploring the laneways a great experience...just be sure to have a map with you. Lucca has plenty of places to eat, drink and shop. Marco recommended a few places to eat, and we weren't disappointed. We went to Gigi's Trattoria several times. Try the panacotta with berries!
Spacious quirky apartment in a Fantastic location and large roof terrace with great views. Wifi didn't work and place needed a little TLC, but overall a good spot in a great town.
Great location in the centre of the old walled city. Marco was an excellent host - gave us great restaurant recommendations and organised a taxi for us when we left the apartment. Thanks for your hospitality Marco. The apartment is light and airy and very comfortable.
We had a great stay in Lucca at Marco's apartment. It is in a great central location and is very stylish, spacious, clean and comfortable. Having teenage girls, it was great to be in a bigger two bedroom apartment with enough space spread out. We cooked a few times in the small but functional kitchen, even though Lucca has heaps of great cafes and restaurants. I would highly recommend this apartment.
Marco's place is smack dab in the middle of the walled city...perfect for walking to all the sites. The large bed for two is perfect...very comfortable. My wife and I did not use the second bedroom, but enjoyed the spacious living room. The unit is very well ventilated and lighted. If you plan on cooking, forget it! The cooking closet...literally...is very small. I boiled water, but other than that, I wouldn't try much in the kitchen. The bath is of a nice size for Italy. Full tub with nice Euro shower attachment. Marco left two liters of bottled water in the little fridge, so that was nice. Walking up the three floors is a bit of work, but typical European for older buildings. Place is clean; no worries there. Marco is a nice guy and available for advice. Fluent in English.
The location of the apartment was great. However, we had very hard time communicating with Marco. There were no clear directions as to where we were supposed to go, even after numerous e-mails, asking him for directions , address, etc to his apartment. It cost me almost 50 euros in international phone calls to finally get some sort of direction to his apartment. We finally arrived at the location, only to find out that the gates were locked, and could not get into his apartment. He was a very difficult person to get hold off, and I am not too sure why people have given 4 and 5 stars. The whole place felt very run down, and not properly cleaned. The coffee pot was all moldy, and the kitchen cabinet had a moldy odour..Not a place I would recommend, unless you want the thrill of getting stranded in Lucca. I give a -1 rating for poor communcation to Marco.
The reservation was canceled the day before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Great location. Loved Lucca. Marco was no where to be seen, even when we were locked out for hours. Both our keys didn't open the door and was bedtime for my chikdren. We ended up asking the fireman to help us and it took 4 men quite a long time to get the door open. The kitchen is in a cupboard and tiny tiny and the air con was not working and no air con in the master bedroom it was very hot to sleep. Not a great experience for us.
The apartment was very nice, quiet and clean in the center of Lucca.
We did not meet Marco but we communicated via text message and phone without problem.
We enjoy our stay in Lucca and recommend this apartment.
Marco is really a phenomenal host, the house is quiet, charming and decorated with beautiful and antique furniture.
