I am a retired primary school teacher. Which, you might think, must make me old. Well, I'm certainly of a senior age but I'm definitely not giving up on life yet.
Recently (Sept/Oct 2012) I did a road trip across the USA with a Canadian friend of mine, travelling from Toronto to Banff, towing a Uhaul, and camping most of the way - until it started snowing when we took to log cabins. Still had the early morning run across the frozen field to the washrooms tho.
Since retiring I spent nearly 3 years (phone number hidden)) working with Voluntary Service Overseas, VSO - a UK organisation, in Cambodia. An amazing experience. And I think I learned a lot more about what it means to live in a third world country than I helped them develop their education system. Very humbling.
I love live music and the most recent bands I have seen include Elbow, Bruce Springsteen, Paul Simon, Dylan, Patti Smith and Dry the River. I have a ticket for Glastonbury for 2013 - my second time. Could never go in the past because I was always working.
I love travelling and try to arrange my trips - transport/accommodation etc through local agencies whenever possible. My most recent one was in India with Intrepid - who use local hotels/tour guides/transport etc.
I am a grandmother and nothing pleases me more than spending time with my three wonderful grandchildren and just sitting back and watching them grow.
I hope this gives you some idea of the kind of person I am. I care about people and often put others before myself.
PS Can't live without my laptop!
