Borgo Elena was the perfect place to stay for 5 days in Tuscany. It was rustic enough to be authentic Tuscany, but had every ammenity you needed to relax and be comfortable. The views were spectacular! The grounds were beautifully wild (fig, pear, and lemon trees, Olive groves) The host, Elena, was Very accomodating and so nice. She was easy to contact, and just a lovely young woman. Free (spotty) wifi was available, as was a washing machine for clothes. We also had a cooking class with Elena, which was a highlight of our trip!
Some considerations: Borgo Elena is located up in a valley overlooking some spectacular scenery. Be aware that it's a one lane road, lots of incline and curves. Driving a manual transmission can be tricky.
Borgo Elena is not a B and B. It is a beautiful farmhouse renovated into nicely equipped apartments with all the essentials (towels, linens, dish soap). But you will need to purchase anything else to your liking (coffee, breakfast items, paper towels etc.) Having said that, the grocery store, COOP, is just at the bottom of the hill as you head into Camucia. Extremely convenient to get around that area. Everything is close.
Borgo Elena was PERFECT for our Tuscan vacation. I am already dreaming of the next time I can visit Elena.
Response from Elena:
Thanks a lot <3 i hope to meet you and your friends next year!!!
A lovely week at Borgo elena. The apartments are well positioned to visit tuscany and Umbria and Elena is always at hand to provide friendly advice. Incredible views!!
