In 2011 I sold everything I owned to finally realize my lifelong dream of owning a farm. I'm a single dad with 3 kids, who split their time between the farm and DC. I always wanted to be surrounded by kids and animals- and now I am! I work probably 14 hours a day getting this place up, running, and sustainable. I'm up with the sun and having a glass of wine on the porch at sunset.
This is a working farm: with all the good and the bad. We've got all different types of animals: cows, pigs, sheep, horses, miniature horses, chickens, geese, ducks- even peacocks! Here you can get pretty close to the animals and most are very gentle. We've also got a few rowdy farm dogs, we get muddy and dirty, the roosters crow in the morning and you might find yourself stepping over a "cow patty" or three. Be prepared to get in touch with where our food comes from: its a real as it gets at Oldeststone Farm. I'm trying to run this place like it was in the days it was built.
In my "former life" I was an interior decorator, catering to high-end clients in Washington DC. So you'll find plenty of beautiful details in every corner of this home. It's rustic but beautiful.
