Hey, I'm Marisa!
Chicago, Illinois, United States · Member since July 2012

I am an energetic, fun, spiritual, creative, free spirited Artist who also holds an MBA in International Business. Plus I am a Yogi. My lifestyle is exciting, creative, multifaceted, balanced and spiritual.

I'm a great friend and known in my local community as the girl / woman who wears a flower in her hair, and it's been said by the oldest resident at Dearborn Plaza Apartments (where Studio #1112 is) )that "when (I) wear a flower in (my) hair (I) brighten up the neighborhood."

I transmit Aloha by virtue of my Asian American heritage (Thai Chinese Filipina). I'm down to earth, friendly, and helpful by virtue of being born in the Midwest (Michigan, Indiana, Chicago). I'm a West Coast too having spent over 20 years there and love San Francisco and Los Angeles EQUALLY. I lived full lives albeit different and spent equal time in both cities (not the suburbs) and have enjoyed making money in technology in San Francisco and launched my creative career as a Painter in Santa Monica.

I couldn't live without my friends, art, music, the ocean (specifically Pacific Ocean), Lake Michigan, the mountains, the desert, trees, flowers, water falls and water fountains, and coffee. A vent half decaf Americano is my morning ritual.

My favorite travel destinations are Hawaii, Italy, Joshua Tree, CA; Death Valley, CA; Lake Shrine in the Pacific Palisades, CA, San Francisco, and Tokyo...been to all and will return after hitting many other spots along the way. Since I'll be having an art show in Bombay, India; I will go there too and can't wait to be absorbed in the colorfulness of Indian culture.

I'm also going to paint in Tahiti. As an Art Model who has been liked to Gaugin's Tahitian women and an Artist I must go there to paint for Gaugin and for myself and for women.

My fave book because is "Fearless Fish Out of Water" a gift from my Creative Producer friend to remind me to keep marching to my own drum beat. Another favorite book is "Divine Romance" by Paramahansa Yogananda. A highly recommended book for spiritual aspirants and those who have been in turmoil about love and romance.

My fave movie is "Artemesia" about the first woman painter (Italian of course) which was my first assignment from my Painting Mentor, LA based artist, Joshua Elias. I love the film "Sabrina" with Audry Hepburn. My fave show right now in the form of an art exhibit is "Lichtenstein" which is at the Art Institute of Chicago. I love classical music...Mozart's "Jupiter" since I was 5 years old, and anything by Nora Jones who I saw play with Charlie Hunter within two weeks of arriving in LA in 2001. Also love Matisyahu who holds on of my paintings and I've seen and heard him in a private radio session in LA and here in Chicago a year ago.

I love fruits, nuts, and all vegetables. I love Thai, Italian, Japanese, Chinese, Mexican, Polish and healthy cuisine. I enjoy cooking, dining out, and exploring the city and culture.

What it's like to have me as a host? Fun, engaging yet autonomous. I provide the basics in a simple setting and can give you good orderly direction if you want it. Mi casa su casa. All of your basic amenities are met and more importantly my place is clean, inspiring, and filled with love and creativity. I encourage you to explore and have tons of recommendations for you. You will get a lot out of my simple Studio #1112 as I have meditated, created, and had talented artists here for stimulating conversation. You'll reap the energy and efficiency of Studio #1112 IF you are open to it and are here to have fun.

It is simple because I choose to make my life not my living space big. I've come to know and delight in a way of thinking and possession of wealth that is quantifiable through all relationships, inspiring others, and contributing my creative talents on many projects through many venues.

My life motto(s) is / are:
"Change your thoughts if you are to change your circumstances" Paramahansa Yogananda
"Live each day as if it were your last"
"In the world and not of it"
"I think therefore I am" Shakespeare

I look forward to meeting you and delight in the positive experience you shall have at Studio #1112. Simple, serene, safe, and soul fed. Om Shalom Peace Aloha.
