I'm living in Florence since I was born, I am 40 years old, I'm married and I have two daughters.
I started renting for holiday recently and now I like the idea of being able to become a beautiful memory in life of someone else.
Lou's place was great. it was super clean and had all the kitchen stuff we needed to make tasty meals when we didn't go out. It was really well-located not too far from the train station and close to helpful buslines, but out of the touristy town center. We had great reasonably-priced meals close by at Da Gherardo for pizza down the street and Il Guscio for seafood, which came highly recommended by Lou and prior guests. It was super handy to have phone access for local calls to make reservations for dining and for museum tickets, and Lou's guides for nearby stores and restaurants, plus other tourist info were nice to have.
In case you can't tell from the photos, it really is a studio with one pull down double bed and one ottoman that turns into a single bed. There was plenty of space for my mom and I, and despite a rainy visit, the deck outside was a nice feature that we appreciated.
Lou stayed in close communication throughout the process and even picked us up at the train station. I don't hesitate in the slightest to recommend his apartment to others.
Lou's place on Borgo San Frediano is a great retreat within the city! We (a couple) adored clean, well-appointed apartment with the perfect sized (and new) kitchen (I wish we had cooked, it was that nice!), huge and excellent bathroom and one-of-a-kind terrace. Lou was very easy to work with and even picked us up at the train station -- saving us the expensive of a cab and trouble of a walk upon arrival (*note - we walked with our bags to the station when leaving and it was very doable, especially after spending time in the city). I can't stress enough the convenience of this apartment's location --- it's only a few minutes from Ponte Vecchio so you are IN the fun of it all in no time BUT you aren't living next to it. The murphy bed is a great idea and works with ease -- and if you love a firm mattress, this will be ideal for you. One of our favorite things in all our Air BnB stays this winter was something Lou did -- he has a laminated packet of maps (and other information about the apartment, etc) that show his place in relation to his recommended restaurants or bakeries or bars. It seems like an obvious thing to do but no one else was this prepared with such well-designed and useful maps. We consulted them all the time and because it had great meals and experiences. We really enjoyed this apartment and would love to go back in the summertime when we can really soak up the sun on that AMAZING terrace!
My stay was shorter than expected. The apartment was clean and in a very good location if you are looking for a gritty/artsy somewhat urban vibe in Florence. Lou was a man of integrity.
My husband, 1 year old son, and I had a wonderful stay at Borgo San Frediano. The neighborhood is residential and away from all the tourists, and only a 10 minute walk to the city center. There were many pizzerias, gelaterias, grocery stores, restaurants and even a playground for our son in the area. The apartment was clean and modern, but the real draw is the backyard/deck. Lou was easy to contact and very responsive by phone/text/email while we were in Florence. I highly recommend this apartment for a stay in Florence!
Our experience with the host began with a very detailed booking email- with useful links and instructions. This set the tone for our fantastic holiday in Florence! Lou met us at the apartment and showed us around the place amd explained how everything worked, where everything was located. Lou had a cot amd high chair available for us to use for our 7 month old son (we didnt ask for it, but he had it there waiting for us). Lou could not have been more helpful or organised- he provides useful instructions and directions for everything you could possibly need to know or do in Florence and within the apartment. Whilst the place is compact it never felt small (even with our luggage and son). The apartment is has been beautifully renovated and has all the ammenities you could need (microwave, dishwasher, sink). The apartment also has a beautiful balcony/terrace/deck which was perfect for enjoying the afternoon sun with some cheese and prosecco.
The location is close to everything (within easy walking distance) and has plenty of restaurants on the doorstep to choose from- but do yourself a favour and follow Lous recommendations- they are all amazing.
Lou help with taxi bookings and checked in on us (email) during our stay to ensure everything was going well!
Lou and the apartment were perfect and when we return we hope to stay there again. Definately recommend it!
We loved this flat!!! Lou was a great host. very friendly and helpful. he even picked us up from the airport. the flat was very comfortable, extremely clean, modern and nicely located. we would love to stay at his flat again and would recommend it to anyone!
Thank you Lou!!
Hi, I'm from Melbourne, Australia and my husband and I spent 3 nights in this amazing apartment in Florence. What an experience! The balcony/terrace of this apartment, as you can see in the photos, is just gorgeous. But what the photos don't show is the fact that while you're sitting on this glorious terrace, you are looking at one VERY 'florentine' church dome. It's just amazing. The apartment itself is extremely modern with every convenience included. The fittings and furnishings are all 'designer' and everything you could want is provided. The wifi is fast and free, the enormous shower head is fabulous, the bed is super comfortable and the location is walking distance to everything we wanted to see on our four day/3 night stay. The neighbourhood was very safe and convenient and there was a little safe for passports etc. in the apartment, though we never felt the need for it. Our host, Lou, was extremely hospitable, flexible and helpful. The apartment has been cleverly and beautifully designed and we wouldn't hesitate to stay here again, or recommend it to anyone, as a wonderful place to stay in stunning Florence! PS: If you book it and you're looking for the cutlery, it's in a little draw under the table!
