Well, my host said she couldn't hear me and dropped my attempts to call her. The apartment was a total disaster! Dirty sheets, unmade bed, bed linens on the floor, dirty plates in the sink, bag of empty beer bottles in the kitchen, dirty used facial tissues on the floor, dirty towels on the bathroom floor and an eviction notice on the door of the apartment! Shall I continue?
It was a lovely apartment in a fantastic neighborhood . Couldn't have asked for a better stay .
Had a great time in the city... The apartment was in a great location! There was an issue with the furnace not kicking on until random hours. As I understand it from friends close by that it is building problem!! Otherwise great!
I would not recommend staying at this apartment. On the first night, someone started playing very loud kitschy music (not a party with voices, just music blasting) at midnight and didn't stop until 2 am. The next morning, the bathroom shower clogged up the first time I used it, and was unusable for the remainder of the trip. Also, the day that I arrived, the building super came down while I was unpacking. He was trying to deliver a message to Nicky and was very annoyed to see someone else answer the door. He asked who I was… I didn't mention Airbnb, but it was awkward to say the least. It's clear that he's aware this apartment is being used as a sub-rental and he's not supportive.
Having said all that, Nicky was very kind and responsive, but overall, not worth it. I wouldn't stay here again.
We didn't meet Nicky, but she left us the key in a nearby deli. The app. is just like what you would expect if you see the photo's. It isn't big; but if you are in NYC you're not going to spend all your time in an appartement ;-). It was clean and cosy. The building is quite old and so is the appartement, it is not 'spick-and-span' like a hotel, but it has more 'charme' at least according to us. There are enough places to eat and drink in the neighbouhood. Try a burger 'the Cardinal' and drink your coffee to go at Abraco for instance!
Nicky's place was great. It was decorated very
nicely and was in a great LES location. We had some issues picking up the keys, but nothing that we were not able to work out. Nicky was extremely responsive and very helpful. I would recommend staying at her place.
We had a perfect time in Nicky's apartment in East Village. We loved the hood and we had a pleasant stay in this house.
Great location! everything went smoothly to get the key etc , both Nicky and the apartment manager were very helpful
Nicky's place was very cozy and perfect for someone staying in NYC looking for a place to rest their head in a great neighborhood. It was clean and easily accessible. Checkin went very smoothly and the apartment itself was fantastic. I would recommend staying here if possible.
Nicky's friend Daniel met us with the key right on time, and the apartment itself was as the pictures portrayed it. We are used to New York City prewar apartment buildings, but if you are not you should know that NYC apartments in this area often tend to be older and more messy / decaying (though they have much more character!) than new sterile apartments you find elsewhere.
Nicky's apartment was decorated in very good taste and was comfortable for our purposes. It was a minimal setup (there is no real dining table) but that was just right for us, as it was in a perfect location in terms of access to restaurants, cafes, shops, and subway stops.
We would definitely stay there again in the future, and have no hesitation recommending it to others.
