I am a poet, scholar, and college professor of creative writing. I grew up in New Orleans, Louisiana and have traveled throughout Europe, Great Britain, Mexico, and Indonesia.
When I'm not nose-deep into a book or scribbling lines in my Moleskine, I enjoy good food, good friends, good wine, dancing on any and all occasions, modern art, photography, artisan/native crafts, yoga, and immersing myself in the culture of wherever I am with a sense of adventure. I believe the taco is the world's best culinary offering, though I'm open to testing that theory. I am a cancer survivor, and one of my biggest accomplishments was completing a sprint triathlon in 2008. I am also a dog-lover (though I never travel with my own rescue pup; she's much more happy exploring her own backyard for squirrels!).
Some of my favorite lines of poetry lately are by Rumi:
"Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing, / there is a field. I'll meet you there."
