A typical Icelandic family guy that enjoys the Great Outdoors of Iceland.
I love to fish, hunt, hike, golf and go camping in the nature with my family enjoying the what Iceland has to offer.
it was nice clean
The room was very clean and spacious. There was a well equipped shared kitchen and bathroom to use. There is a smaller room that is also rented out on airbnb. The bed is king size and very comfortable. The apartment is located about a 5 minute drive from town, we rented a car so getting around was easy. Unfortunately Gunnar was unwell so we did not meet him. I recommend the apartment as it is well priced.
Gunnar definetely replies fast and is willing to give information rgarding how to get there. I only stayed for a night and arrived really early, the room was ready and it looked better than here! I met Gunnar on that afternoon and he is a nice and reserved person. The room Had exactly everything my friends and I needed, and about 15 minutes drive to downtown. Everything was clean and neat. Just beware Icelandic water has a strong sulfur smell its not that the apartment smells its just the water when its running. I will be back to Iceland and might be back to this place :)
Overall our experience at Gunnar's was pleasant, the bed was comfortable and it was nice to have a shower, bathroom and kitchen area for our use. The location of the apartment is not that close to the city center, but just about a ten minute bus ride - make sure you have exact change to pay before getting on (350isk)! Gunnar also had a party on the top floor of the apartment one of the nights we were there which was extremely loud and kept us up late into the night. He let us know about it in advance, which was considerate, and even asked if it would be OK but we assumed it would not be so loud / disruptive, and we weren't really in a position to take issue with his plans... it was not very polite especially as we had arrived very early that morning after taking a red-eye. Ultimately though it wasn't that big of deal. Gunnar was nice but a bit hands-off as a host, which is either good or bad, depending on what you look for in an airbnb experience.
Our stay at Gunnar's apartment couldn't have been better. From the very comfy beds to a kitchen with anything you might need to many other convenient add-ons (washer-dryer, drying rack, great coat/hat/boot rack at the entry), everything was perfect. And Gunnar was so helpful - giving us tips on places to visit throughout our time there - he was a wonderful host. Location was fantastic. With our rental car, it was just a five minute drive into downtown Reykjavik (where we never had trouble parking), plus it was just a few easy kilometers to get on the Ring Road. Plus multiple grocery stores close by, even walking distance. I highly recommend Gunnar's apartment!
This was a wonderful space for our first few nights in Reykjavik. The space was great and the bed was super comfortable. An easy walk to downtown and also close to bus lines. Also, near the Kringlan mall for your shopping needs and a helpful point of reference. I would definitely recommend this space!
For me this was a lovely "home from home" stay as I know the area quite well. The room is spacious and has several amenities that make it feel very comfortable. These include a heavenly big bed, a comfortable couch and a good-sized coffee table. There is also a large wardrobe and a TV and DVD player. There are a selection of DVDs to watch if you have time. Reykjavik is my favourite city and there are lots of things to do but if inclement weather keeps you inside for a while this is a very pleasant place to be. There is a nice well-equipped kitchen which can also be used. There are bathroom facilities and - yay - a washing machine available. There is one small shopping mall very very close, plus the the Kringlan shopping mall which is very close. In spite of being not far from the main road into town the house is far enough away that it is very quiet. Although this place is not near the centre of town you can get there in a few minutes by using the frequent and convenient bus service that leaves from the main road. This is a terrific place to stay and Gunnar and his wife were extremely kind and flexible.
The room is one of two in a private apartment with the hosts living upstairs. It is conveniently located (we did have a rental car and were very close to downtown Reyjkavik) and was easy to find. The bed was comfortable and is a great place to crash for a night! :)
We (my girlfriend, friend and myself) all stayed with Gunnar for a week and his room was an absolute delight to come back to day after day. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen was well equiped and the space offered everything you could want from a home away from home.
Gunnar was always available, easily reached and a wonderful host!
The space itself is surrounded by everything you could need (multiple grocery stores, pharmacies, etc), very close walk to bus stops which will get you into downtown Reykjavik within minutes and if you stay out past bus hours it's a cheap (phone number hidden) ISK) cab ride back.
I can only give glowing reviews about our experience at Gunnar's home and can only hope to be staying there again when we visit in June!
This place was amazing - not too close to downtown but just close enough that it was a nice walk when the weather was good. Quiet, clean, amazing bed, and close to Kringlan Mall where we were able to get groceries. It's also fairly close to the BSI bus terminal. Though we only met him briefly, Gunnar was pleasant and accommodating. There is another room in the suite which he also rents out but there was no one staying there for most of our stay. I would highly recommend this place to anyone and everyone looking for comfortable and affordable accomodations in Reykjavik!
