This is a cute and affordable place within walking distance of Monterey Bay Aquarium, Cannery Row, John Steinbeck's family home (now a private residence), and the historic Victorians of Pacific Grove. We also walked to Forest Street and the many restaurants and shops there, plus the even better cafes/eateries on Lighthouse Ave. More on the house itself - cozy, clean, comfortable, and warm. There was a slight smell of gas the afternoon we arrived but we called the owner who came over right away and relit the pilot light on the antique stove and shared his family history. The house was purchased in the late 1800s by his great grandmother (if memory serves) who used to work on Cannery Row and bought the adjacent houses for relatives. This place was cheaper and nicer than other local establishments we've used in the past.
Nina's place was just perfect. It met and exceeded our expectations. The location was ideal for a visit to the aquarium - shops, playground, restaurants all within a very short distance. We would definitely visit again.
I was in San Jose on business and decided to take a couple of extra days to visit the Monterey Bay area with my mother who was travelling with me. We found Nina's place and it was right up our alley!
If you love old houses, architecture and/or history, this charming, three-bedroom in the historic Pacific Grove area will delight you. The cottage has hardwood floors, historical pictures grace the walls, and it's clean and inviting. The kitchen is HUGE and has a wonderful little garden off of it in the back. There's even a park across the street.
We also liked that it's centrally located - a short drive and you're in Carmel-by-the-Sea or Monterey. And Nina's recommendations for dining choices were just what we were looking for.
We'd definitely stay here again if we're in the area - lots of serendipities and memories to be made!
Perfect location in Pacific Grove! My family and I stayed here for a beautiful weekend in Pacific Grove & Monterey. We couldn't have asked for a better location, we were within walking distance to the ocean, coffee shops, restaurants, a grocery store and more. The cottage was cozy and clean with a kitchen that was perfect for making breakfast, lunch or dinner. The two queen beds were comfortable and cozy, a nice amenity. The cottage even had a high chair for our 16 month old! Definitely recommend!
This cottage is a perfect place to explore the Monterey area. The house itself is comfortable and replete with character. The living room is cozy with a small fireplace. There are great restaurants within a couple blocks, as well as spectacular coastline. Can't recommend it enough!
Nina Son stayed in our studio for a month and he was the perfect guest. He left the studio very clean and tidy. He is welcomed back anytime.
Nina's son J.P. stayed at our apartment for a month while he was in town doing a medical school rotation. He was a very considerate guest, quiet, responsible, and left things very clean when his stay ended. He was also a warm and enthusiastic person. His hospital rotation kept him working long hours, but he was a fun person to talk with when he was around and we would have enjoyed seeing more of him. We would be glad to host him again and can heartily recommend him to other hosts.
