Dear Will, I am sorry to hear of your experience. I was told by my staff that you were not happy with the island itself as it was too slow. Carriacou is a very special destination off the beaten track and the laid back feel is emphasized during the slow season and especially during church holidays as the Pentecost with following Whit Monday when you visited. Carriacou is a very small island with a traditional society and sacred holidays are taken very serious, most everything will be closed during those times. The people how ever are known for their great friendliness and hospitality. The restaurant at Green Roof Inn is open every day except for Mondays when we are closed all year round, the Whit Sunday that you arrived it was open but for dinners only from 6 pm. I am glad to hear that my staff was kind enough to go out of their way to make you a sandwich even though we do not to serve lunch. Carriacou is not an island that suits everyone, some will stay a day and others for weeks, coming back year after year. I do understand the feeling when walking down town and Everything is closed because of the holidays but it can be avoided by planning the timing of your trip. I am very sorry though to hear that you did not feel welcome and that you found my staff not being helpful. I will adress this and make sure that if this is the case it is not repeated.
