I am a Russian-speaking lawyer in Florids
Dear good hosts around the world, I am asking you to be very careful when this person is asking to rent a place from you.
1st he may try to ask his friend to book your place on his behalf.
> I refused after I received advice from airbnb, that when trouble arise nothing can be done if the staying guests are not the same people as the ones who make reservation.
2. he did not understand the concept of Airbnb that he was renting a personal property with personal belonging. He ignored all house rules I listed. Leaving aircon and all light in the house on for 30days continuously.
>It caused mul-function of airconditioning system
>he disrespected not only the host but also the country that faces serious trouble with electric supply.
(website hidden) house rules are : No unregistered guest to enter the building / No party/maid would come in to take care of plants/fish for guests staying longer than 3 nights/light off when out
> The maid found the place full on alcohol glasses lying arounde / red wine spilt on pricy rug and cushion / glasses broken & missing
> He asked the maid directly to come and clean the messed up place without my consent and refuse to pay the maid after she finished the service.
> When I approached him politely asking him he should pay the maid / should turn the light/aircon off when he was out of apartment / not to party
> he became agressive and started to threaten me to sue me
as he is a lawyer. I tried several times to have friendly /polite communication with him but he had always come back with rude / agressive / disturbing tone of language.
I gave up and asked Airbnb legal department for support / and communicate with him on my behalf.
He claimed that he paid high rent for my space, however reality was that his rent can never compensate potential damage of house whole electric system / maintenance / furniture+pieces on this prime property.
After he left, I found pricy glasses broken / some items missing here and there. Dead plant/fish.
With the experience with Ilya, I have re-written house rule / how to better protect my personal belonging /changed some house ware / put away pricy glasses / furniture / home decore, that previous guest enjoyed and took good care of / rethink about renting my property out with airbnb.
It was very stressful experience as a host when the guest did not understand the house rule / concept of airbnb /cannot communicate in friendly/healthy manner/ when guest disrespectful to your property.
I hope all future hosts think carefully when guests are trying to book with different name / then another person stays. You may not be able to cancel or ask the guests to leave before the due date or you may loose all the rent. After all Ilya is a lawyer, he knows his way around
