I am a 25 year-old working artist born and raised in NYC. I live and work in Park Slope, and will be staying at my studio for a while while renting out my bedroom.
We had a very pleasant stay. We did not get to meet Johanna, but she was always available by and very pleasant. Our only passing glitch was collecting the apartment keys as the person in the store where we were to collect them knew nothing about them. However he asked another co-worker and it was soon sorted out.The apartment is basic, but was clean and very near our daughter's house which was a big plus. It would have been nice to have an electric clock available, but the wifi worked easily and we had everything else we needed. The bed was very comfortable and the neighborhood quiet.
We didn't have a chance to meet Johanna, but we had a nice stay on her apartment.
The place is very spacious and receives lots of natural light. We were there in the heat of the summer and one thing the apartment screams for is an air conditioning, our dog Betty had a hard time because of this.
The place was relatively clean, but the shower curtain needs to be changed, its molded and really dirty. The other thing we had issues, was the mosquitos, even with the screens on, the little buggers were feasting on us.
The neighborhood is spectacular, with the neighbors raving about it being the #1 neighborhood of NYC. We totally agree! Right bellow the spot, is a great coffee place and loads of options for eats. But at night/early morning it makes really hard to have a sound sleep, with all the loading trucks working.
Overall I would totally recommend Johanna's lovely apartment!
Staying at Johanna's place was so great!
We were 4 people, 22 years old, and we stayed at the apartment for a week.
The apartment is very comfortable for 4 people, in each room two people sleep, and than there's also the living room/kitchen.
The location was one of the best things, only a couple of minutes to the subway, and then about 30 minutes to the city. If you don't want to go to the city, the street right out side of the apartment is filled with bars, restaurants, coffee places, shopping and whatever you'd like.
Also one of the best things about this place is the roof of the building. It overlooks to the south part of manhattan, the financial district, and you can even see the Statue of Liberty. The view is amazing, and it's just fun to sit up there..
Johanna was really amazing, and generous. Every time I needed to ask something she would replay immediately, she was very nice and kind.
The only little problem in the apartment was that during the day it is kinda hot in the apartment. There is a fan that helps a lot, at night and morning there's a great breeze. But I would suggest that you'll pay the extra fee for the air conditioning.
For conclusion, it's a great place with a great host and we had the best time!
Rarely saw Johanna and her family but hope they had a good visit with their friends. There were misunderstandings re laundry facilities- non provided.
Although I was not able to meet Johanna, she was easy to communicate with prior to her visit and very friendly. She left my apartment spotless and well taken care of- I would definitely host her again!
Johanna (or Jo as I knew her) is a friend from college. She was always a person to include everyone and made you feel a part of the group even if you weren't. I still appreciate her acts of kindness and generosity to this day. What's more is that she was the most talented artist in our school and I don't doubt for a minute that her creativity and wonderful paintings are reaching new heights. I'm glad I own one of her pieces ; ) I recommend Jo's Airbnb because anyone would be the better for crossing paths with this delightful and inspired young woman.
