My kids say I'm a nice guy.
The listing and host and the neighborhood definitely met our expectations!
The location of the apartment was in a very nice tree lined street full of character houses and importantly only 100 yards away from the subway station allowing us easy access to New York without being plonked in the middle of it. It was extremely quiet inside, secure and we had no interruptions sleeping. Alex and Karyn, whilst we did not have a lot of contact were very accommodating. The bed was comfortable and the kitchen well appointed. We didn't spend much time in the apartment aside from sleeping (you're in New York after all) but the living areas were comfortable. Very enjoyable stay.
The reservation was canceled 107 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
This was our first time staying in an Air BnB. It was a lovely apartment, nice owners and a quiet street lined street. This was a great experience, we will stay here again when we visit Greenpoint.
Alex and Karyn were gracious host to my parents when I had a lot of family in for my daughter's birthday. They were very impressed with the apartment, location, and hosts. Everyone was very accommodating, and they had a wonderful stay. I will certainly reach out on their behalf next year, when they once again descend on the bday. Thank you!!
Karyn and Alex were fantastic hosts and their apartment absolutely beautiful - we didn't want to leave! The neighbourhood is a lovely area, full of quiet leafy streets but also only one block from the subway and 10 minutes from Manhattan on the East River Ferry. Greenpoint is a short walk from Williamsburg; an area we also really enjoyed exploring. The apartment itself was spacious, clean, and had everything we needed including towels, wifi, and plenty of space.
Thanks again Karyn and Alex - we'll be recommending your apartment to everyone we know and hope to be back again in the future!
Thanks to Alex for letting us stay in their brownstone house which is a true original. The house is in a quiet street a very short stroll from the bustling Manhattan Ave shops of Greenpoint and not far from fashionable boutiques and gastro pubs of Williamsburg. Its rooms display great creativity from the owners and whichever way you turn you encounter art, antiques or shelves of much-loved books.
If you've a desire to bring home a few vintage pieces of your own, then be sure to visit the Williamsburg Flea which has a gorgeous skyline view to boot. Word is an excellent independent neighbourhood book-store two blocks away to stock up your book case.
The main living area of this home is deceptively simple, look past the high ceilings and expanse of floorboards and you’ll find an attention to detail. When you’re not admiring your hosts’ taste you’ll be enraptured by the 55" plasma TV like our children -enthralled by Marceline the Vampire Queen and Finn the Human in Cartoon Network's 'Adventure Time'.
The kitchen is robust, with butchers’ block stainless steel work top and a beautiful selection of crockery and glassware.
With views of tranquillity of the trees out of all windows, a small terrace with an excellent Weber BBQ and a garden which traps the sun and makes the home all yours.
Locally Mrs. Kim's at then end of the road is a great Korean diner and eating outdoors is less 'dim and religious'. Lomzynianka has great Polish food and is BYOB -plenty of Polish beer and vodka to be had down the street. Five Leaves has food that you can get obsessed with and like most trendy restaurants is cramped, so in good weather sit outside.
BELLOCQ Tea Atelier (open odd hours) is award-winning purveyor of evocative artisan tea blends, has their 'tea atelier' literally down the road. Second hand (vintage) clothing is very popular and Beacon's Closet (about 15min walk) is as good as it gets. There are also a few other hidden gems in Greenpoint for you to discover.
Somewhat surprisingly, this elegant leafy area is just 20 minutes from MoMa via the much maligned G train which stops a block away in Greenpoint Avenue.
Certainly a home and area we would look to stay in again.
We had a great time in Greenpoint. The apartment is very comfortable, everything clean and in good working order. The location is great. Close to the subway and the East River Ferry. Lots of good restaurants and shops are close by. We hope to stay there again the next time we're in town.
Three of us stayed here for 17 days and found the apartment overall very pleasant and comfortable to stay in. Karyn was very nice to deal with and happy to help when I asked her for some more cooking utensils. We had some issues with the fridge not keeping food cold which was a nuisance but Karyn and Alex are having the fridge serviced. So future guests shouldn't have to endure that frustration. The apartment is beautiful and very close to the subway and the ferry as well as manhattan street which is bursting with shops to shop or dine in. Peter Pan's (email hidden) for bagels and donuts worth the walk there. The Garden which carries everything you could need to stock your pantry is right on the corner close to the apartment, very handy. There are also cheaper places to shop if you are on a budget. We had a great stay here.
We spent a week in this very comfortable and clean apartment situated in a quiet street in Greenpoint, close to the East River. Many thanks to Karyn and Alex for the nice reception and hospitality.
Alex, Karyn and their children were excellent guests. I would like to welcome them again.
Great location, atmosphere and energy at this really cool Brooklyn spot! You'll love the neighborhood and the hosts are super friendly, accommodating and (website hidden) bang for your buck!
