Valeria was efficient, succinct and easily provided me with the best ways of getting from the train station, Santa Maria Novella, to the accommodation located next door to her wonderful mother, Lucrezia, on the other side of the Arno. Once I located the lodgings - not more than 15 mins walk from the station - I was met by Lucrezia, who can only be described as kind, helpful and very well-informed, she was able to give me all the answers I needed, was kind to me - being a lone traveller I felt a tad lonely and she took the time to talk to me, to bring me tea and a peach, and just the complete picture of the perfect host. The studio was just the perfect size for 1-2 travellers, for 1 it was fantastic, close (email hidden)ly Piazza and Ponte Vecchio, Palazzo Pitti and the Giardino di Boboli (Boboli Gardens) only 5 minutes walk. I would THOROUGHLY recommend staying here when you travel to Firenze. This is a lovely place, with a lovely host and an incredibly efficient bookings manager in Valeria. Fantastic, and very grateful!
The studio is very quaint and the location was absolutely perfect! Florence is such a great city, I had a wonderful few days here. Valeria's mum welcomed me and gave me some hot tips for around town. The room can tend to get very hot if the weather is warm outside. I had a little trouble sleeping because of the heat as the room didn't cool down overnight, but if you don't mind the warm weather then I'm sure you will be fine here.
You can walk from the station if your luggage isn't too heavy otherwise just hop in a cab.
The wifi worked perfectly while I was there! And you can make little salads with the utensils provided, as well as tea and coffee!
Thank you for everything!
The apartment is very nice and perfectly located. I have a very good time. And Valeria's mother is kind and helpfull. When you travel alone it a perfect place to be.
Wonderful location--adjacent to a popular local hangout spot, lots of good food within short walking distance, and relatively few tourists. The city's major attractions are all 10-30 min away by foot. The room itself is small, but comfortable and has everything you need to stay for several days. The wifi was spotty, but there were also thunderstorms and a blackout so that's to be expected.
I didn't meet Valeria, but her mother, Lucrezia, was a great host. She offered many suggestions of cafes, restaurants and museums that are commonly overlooked by tourists and guidebooks, and knows a lot about the history and geography of the city.
When I saw the photos of the studio while sitting at my desk in Schenectady, New York, I could immediately imagine living there. And my actual experience proved even better.
Valeria, who handles bookings and logistics, is prompt, efficient, friendly, and knowledgeable. And her mother Lucrezia, who lives next door, is erudite, hospitable, and always willing to help. I was even lucky enough to receive an invitation to dinner when Lucrezia's daughter Valeria was visiting from Paris. It was a memorable evening, and I learned much about the great flood of Florence and local archives on Tuscan jails. But I digress...
I was in Florence for a spring term with fourteen college students. They studied Italian and I taught a class on ancient religion and mythology at Eurocentres-Firenze in Piazza Santo Spirito, a mere eighty steps from the studio. My commute was about forty-five seconds (although on some days the daily market proved more tempting than others). A late-night convenience store and a bakery were literally right next door. Coffee shops, fruit stands, dry-cleaners, laundromat, a discount grocery store, restaurants of all sorts are all within a two-block radius. Ponte Vecchio is less than a five-minute walk.
And the room itself was quite comfortable for a stay of over two months. Lucrezia had a specialist bring additional equipment for WiFi shortly after I arrived, and the WiFi was generally very good. There is a private bathroom with excellent shower, a dresser, a wardrobe, a desk a couch, a loft bed, two chairs, a small porch that overlooks a courtyard. One can see the spire of Santo Spirito through the windows and from the porch. There is no kitchen, but the panini-style toaster, hot water kettle, and electric espresso machine provided more than enough cooking opportunities for me. I could have lived in that room quite happily for years.
And I was even able to accommodate guests (my daughters) for short stays on the couch.
Grazie mille, Valeria e Lucrezia!
Florence is an overwhelming and awesome city, and coming home to this apartment every evening was a perfect way to end the day. It's located in what I think is the best area, with none of those tacky, soulless bars and restaurants you find in the tourist spots. I ended up spending more time in this area than anywhere else.
Lucrezia was wonderful, inviting and informative. The apartment was perfectly comfortable. Highly recommended!
Valeria's small Studio near to beautiful Piazza Santo Spirito is probably the best place to live in Florence you can imagine, especially if you are interested in visiting the Florentine monuments and galleries - you need only three minutes to get to Palazzo Pitti, no more then ten minutes to reach Galleria degli Uffizi.
The Landlady, Lucrezia, Valeria's mother is extremely nice and friendly person who can give you a lot of interesting information concerning the culture and history of Florence and Italy in general. I spent a wonderful month there, and now I am pleased to recommend this place. Grazie mille, Lucrezia and Valeria!!
Valeria era a Parigi. Sua madre Lucrezia è una donna colta che ama l'arte e la storia. Grazie per le belle camere.
Das Zimmer liegt sehr zentral. Alles was man braucht ist zu Fuß erreichbar. Herzlichen Dank!
Valeria was a great host. Not only the apartment is located in one of the best areas of Florence, Santo Spirito but the typical Florentine decoration of the studio made it even more authentic like.
Valeria was very helpful in giving me the best addresses, insights into her city and took time to recommend a few places and restaurants which added a local color to my trip.
Both her and her mother (who lives next door) are incredibly nice and passionate about their culture and Florence which made great conversations and allowed me to get more knowledge about Florence.
Valeria even invited me out to meet with her friends which made my stay in Florence even more enjoyable and richer. Both Valeria and her mother speak fluent English and / or French which makes communication a lot easier and smoother.
I wish to come back soon and stay again at Valeria's apartment next time I'm traveling to Florence.
Thanks again for hosting me!
