Incredible experience, very pleased. Yes, it is very, very small. But the price and location were just what we wanted. You can't get any more central than this, it seems you are walking distance from just about everything you'll want to do in Paris. The building is very quiet at night and the bed is comfortable. You get a code to enter the room with, so you never have to coordinate with the host for check-in or check-out, which was very convenient.
The apartment is small but that's said in the description, otherwise it's very cute and you have everything you need.
Bathroom is small but has everything you need. The shower worked well but you have to be aware of the electronic toilet.
We cooked a little bit and the kitchen has everything you need for small meals or breakfast.
Big pro of the apartment is the area! Only 5min walking to Norte Dame is perfect.
The WiFi and the automatic door lock worked without any problems.
We really enjoyed our stay there!
Great Location... so centered ... so closed to Metro station, only 1 minute walk to Hotel deVille .. only 2 minutes walk to the beautiful St.Martin Canal , only 4 minutes walk to the infamous Notreadame.. the hop and off bus interchange is on the bridge in front of Notredame... so basically you are in the heart of Paris... so easy to go anywhere. Love the interior.. fresh design.. The studio is very small as described, but fit for two person who are very comfortable at each other ... The only minus point is the very dark alleyway (especially at night when the sun has gone) after the entrance door.. maybe adding some bright big lamps will help improve much :) Marie is a great host. Thanks Marie.
The location of this place was the best thing about it - right in the heart of the Latin Quarter, across the street from the Sorbonne and a quick walk to Notre Dame. The Latin Quarter alone has so many streets worth walking down with fun cafés and shops, you won't regret staying here.
This was a lovely little apartment, but I must stress 'little'. My husband and I knew it was going to be small so this wasn't a problem for us, but it is an extremely small living space so be prepared. Perfect for those of you who travel light, as there is no lift to the apartment and you have to carry everything up 6 flights of old stairs to get there!
We loved the charm of the apartment, it was cozy and felt very Parisienne. Marie was very easy to get in touch with via email when we needed something, and the instructions that were left for us were very clear. All in all we had a wonderful time, thanks Marie!
I hope my experience can really help future travelers if you face the same issue.
I gave 1 star for the host. It was a long stressful annoying two days out of the four days I stayed. The electronic door lock didn’t work the 2nd morning I was there. The host wasted my time & demanded money for repair. She would show up hours late of when we agreed to meet to fix the issue, being very inconsiderate that I was there on vacation (NOT APT SITTING). I ended up sitting around 2 days waiting for repair & Marie also had the audacity to have the contract renovation other items in bathroom during my stay. The fix was minor due to lock being so old (the contractor only sprayed oil and it worked) but she still demanded 50EUR (bargain down from 200EUR) for something that should have worked correctly in the 1st place. Felt like a con to me! I am sad this is my 1st Airbnb and will be my last. I would stay away from this property just to avoid the risk to be lock outside overnight like me.
I gave 4 star for the flat itself. The location is great, mins walk to all. The flat is small (10sq ft) but has everything you need. There was a strong paint smell with windows closed. The hot water tank only gave enough for a military style shower for one.
My husband and I stayed here for one week and were completely satisfied. As others have mentioned the place is small, but our priority was having a comfortable, cute, and convenient place to stay that would allow us to prepare our own food from time to time after a long day of sightseeing, so the size wasn't an issue. (We're also from NYC, so it was somewhat routine.)
The mini-terrace was a delightful touch (particularly in the mornings and at sunset), which overlooks the Pantheon, Sorbonne, and even the Eiffel Tower in the distance.
Do note that the bathroom is actually a wet room, but again, we were able to work around this without too much inconvenience.
Otherwise, the neighborhood was well connected, eclectic and full of great food, bookstores (!!), convenient to many parks (essential for our running habit)--all in all, exactly what we were looking for!
Marie was very helpful. We had a problem with the wi-fi and TV, but she resolved the wi-fi right away and we didn't even actually have time to watch TV, and so were happy once we had access to the internet.
All in all, a great stay!
Marie was very helpful on the phone and was very accommodating. The flat is tiny, tiny. That cannot be emphasised enough, though it is also clearly spelled out in the description. The electric toilet was the real let down, as was not having wifi, something mentioned by other reviewers. The toilet situation is not, to my mind, clearly spelled out in the description (you cannot flush toilet paper).
That said, it is right smack dab in the middle of where you want to be, and well served by trains.
A very pleasant and beautiful flat in the center of the city. The location is optimal for the most popular places of interest and nearest metro stations.
The apartment was very clean and nice, we had a wonderful time during our stay in Paris for all 10 days in may 2014. Thanks to the owner of the flat, we could easily solve every question or problem, Marie was very friendly and helpful. We appreciated very much that she sent us info about surrounding cafes and interesting places, and the house manual was very precise and helpful.
As mentioned in multiple other reviews, the promises of cable TV and wifi were unfulfilled. We tried accessing the wifi on various devices (iPhone 5s, Samsung Galaxy S4, iPod Touch 4, and a PC laptop) and could not get a connection on any of them. When we contacted Marie, her responses were infrequent and unhelpful. After a couple emails, she told us she would come by and get the wifi fixed. We came back to the studio and found it gone, but discovered it again stored in a drawer that evening. We did not hear back until we prompted her by email again. As we were visitors from the US, not having wifi prevented us from communicating with friends/family/work, planning our days, researching transportation, etc. Despite the 8 days we stayed in her studio, Marie did not get anything resolved; after our return and some email communication she did offer 40 euro refund.
Note the large beam in the photos – it runs directly through the middle of the studio (when you look at the pictures of the table and chairs, the camera must be position directly below it, at chest level) and is unavoidable – you will run into it or hit your head at some point.
The size of the studio is accurately advertised – it is very tiny. That isn't an issue if you’re with someone you are comfortable with. The biggest problem is that the toilet won’t flush toilet paper (there is a long note from Marie explaining the costs of plumbing if anything is flushed) and you need to put your toilet paper into a bag to take out at a later time. The bathroom ‘door’ is also just a shuttered closet door, so
you can hear/see anything going on inside. The size of the studio also means you won’t be very far from it, even with the door closed.
Overall, the experience in this studio wasn't terrible. The neighborhood is wonderful! It's blocks from Notre Dame and close to a bunch of metro stations. Despite the size of the studio, it’s absolutely livable, as long as you are comfortable with the person you share the space with. I would absolutely not have chosen to stay in this place if I had read the review mentioning the wifi issues, and am concerned that the studio continues to boast cable TV and wifi as it did when we booked it as well. Considering the number of tiny Paris studios available on this site, I would avoid a host who can’t provide all promised amenities and doesn't work to resolve an issue in a timely, or communicative, manner.
I had a very good stay in this cute, little flat. Everything worked when I first arrived (except the tv, but I wasn't there long enough to watch it anyway). The flat was comfortable and for me the small size was not an issue. The only surprise was the fact that the bathroom is actually a "wet room", which was not included in the description or obvious from the photos. The toilet and the sink are actually in the shower--it's all one 3 by 3 foot room, so after one takes a shower the rest of the bathroom is wet until it air dries. Apparently this is common in Europe, but this was my 10th trip and I'd never seen such a set-up before, so it should be included in the description. Overall, I had a very pleasant experience, the location is fantastic, and I would stay here again.
Excellent guest. Marie left the mini studio in perfect condition.
Great guest, highly recommended!
