I've lived in or around London most of my life but my mum is Irish and like to think I have something of the old country in me! I love nature, fishing, jazz and world music.

Damian was a great host. He was super helpful with anything we needed and knew the area and had great suggestions for cool things to do in Hackney and central London. The bed is really comfy and the room and ensuite are very clean. Damian really went out of his way to make our time in London enjoyable. Also his music collection and his love of coffee was a big plus!
High standard apartment in a quiet residential area.
Close to parks, pubs and cafes in Hackney Wick. There are also few grocery shops near (10 minutes by bus to a big Tesco / ASDA) and a huge shopping centre (Westfield).
A trip to Central London takes around 40 minutes to 1 hour (bus + underground, closest tube station is Leyton - Zone 3). Overground station is quite near.
There is a new double bed in the room (mattress could be of better quality) and a separate bathroom. The room lacks some desk and a chair would, as you cannot really sit on the bed for long (it's not stable enough, cause back pain), although there's probably no space left for it.
Use of the shared space is limited, as host usually works there during the day.
Would recommend if you are planning to be out for most of the time and don't mind long commute to Central London (it's possible to find something cheaper with the same commute time, although of lower standard).
I've known Damian for over a decade, during which time we've travelled together and on one memorable occasion he opened his home to my pregnant wife and me for a fortnight when we were between homes ourselves. He is a lovely bloke - smart, funny, trustworthy, very reasonable and with a rare gift of being comfortable with pretty much anyone of any age or background. He also knows how to create spaces that are fun and relaxing to be in, with a great eye for decoration and an even better ear for music to go with the vast knowledge that his restless mind has brought him. And he makes very good coffee.
I've stayed at Damian's apartment many times when visiting London.
Damian is a great host, laid back, conversational and charming. He makes amazing coffee and sometimes even fresh home-made bread in the mornings. He has an incredible world music collection which is guaranteed to broaden your horizons on your journey home. He also has an in depth knowledge of London and a genuine love for the city and its culture which he enjoys sharing.
I'd recommend staying with Damian as a welcoming host who will enhance your visit to London.
