We went to Santa Cruz to visit with our daughter, decided to try something different and booked a room at Dorrene's place. And we're glad we did! Dorrens pad is a comfortable little apartment set on a 4 acre ranch in the foothills of Aptos. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and would stay there again. We met the chickens, the Emus and the Alpacas how cool is that! The main house has been totally redecorated by its artist/owner and is absolutely amazing. We would stay here again and cant wait to see the additions that are in the works!
Just came for one night, but what an interesting place! Chickens, goats, cats, emus and llamas. Once they get all the planned buildings up, it will be quite the traveler's paradise.
It was fun to stay one night in this big community housing. Totally new experience!
It was a really great experience staying at Dorrene's farm. The first night we slept in a tent, which was really cool. The tent was quite big and had a comfortable air mattress. The tent was only placed on a little bit sloping terrain, but overall we still had a really good night rest. The second night we could stay in the house, which was great because it was a little colder outside that night. All the people at the farm were really friendly and helpful. Can definitely recommend this place, it was a great adventure!
This was my best air bnb experience by far. The house is absolutely gorgeous, very big and open. I felt at home right away and was welcomed into the home as if i lived there. Dorrene was very kind and willing to help with directions and nice places to go during my stay. I will go back and stay the next chance I get and would highly recommend this place to anyone. Relaxing in simple comfort is precisely what was accomplished that weekend.
Dorrene's room is in a massive house with lots of housemates populating the other rooms, who we didn't really hang out with but seemed nice and welcoming. It has a gorgeous vegetable garden with fruit trees and stuff too (the peaches were great) which was particularly nice for reclining in the sun reading. The room is small but comfortable enough, and is well stocked with coffee maker, various teas and microwave popcorn (hello popcorn for dinner). It's out of town, so it was perfect for a one night stop off on our drive up the coast.
Dorrene was unfortunately at work when we arrived, but we were greeted by her housemates who were super friendly. They gave us a tour of their most fascinating house then led us to the room. It was clean and nicely set up for my daughter and I, and Dorrene even left water for tea, fresh eggs and some books she knew we'd enjoy! In the morning, we were fortunate to have another tour of the property, including the goats, chickens, emus, and the gardens. Suddenly our need for a place to sleep turned into an incredible destination. I'll certainly contact Dorrene again!
