Suzanne was a warm and engaging host and very accommodating, especially of my strange requests (tape measures. laundry, allowing me to organise a ups pickup for my baggage). The house is lovely and well situated close to gourmet food shops and the legendary Monterey Markets. Would recommend for anybody looking for an authentic Berkeley experience. Two thumbs up!
The good: It it is a nice small house in a quiet area of North Berkeley. The room was perfectly adequate (despite a slightly creaky bed). The price is very reasonable. I only stayed a few days, but the host seems to be a nice person and overall friendly. The walk to the North Berkeley station is pretty short too.
The less good: You must be very careful with every resource you use, as the host is highly environmentally concerned. This may or may not be a big problem. Moreover, you need to be extremely responsible, given the host is something of a compulsive worrier even with minor problems, I found. Saying that, when she wasn't frowning, she was nice enough to be around.
Overall, make your own judgement. If you're a pretty laid-back person, take heed, but otherwise fine.
Suzanne's space was absolutely beautiful! It was peaceful, in a prime location in Berkeley, and was generally an all around amazing place to stay. Suzanne is very generous and kind -- truly a gem. She and her cat Monkey made the experience extra special. Thanks!
Absolutely fantastic location! I flew into SFO, took BART to the North Berkeley Station and walked a few blocks through a great neighborhood. As I approached my lodging I passed a wine and cheese shop, coffee shop, restaurants and, best of all, the Monterey Market. I dropped off my bags and headed back to the market for some fantastic produce, which my hosts let me store in the fridge. I had an easy walk to my class each day through a neighborhood of lovely homes with blooming gardens.
Although my room was very comfortable with great computer access and a nice big bed, my class kept me from spending much time there. I would highly recommend this to anyone.
Suzanne was easy to co-habitate with. I had a problem with the cat dander, hair and smell; finding myself with a more allergic reaction than I've experienced before. Suzanne was gracious and we agreed on a compromise to shorten my stay. Otherwise, it would have been a fine stay and as expected.
Suzanne's house is cozy and well-located. She made me feel at home. I would recommend both her as a host and the house.
Suzanne's home is so warm and inviting, we had a wonderful stay with her. She made sure we had fresh coffee to start our day, this was a great touch.
Very nice neighborhood. Great hostess and nice place. Thank you.
Suzanne was very easy going and a great host. She baked fresh bagels for breakfast which were delicious. The house was quiet and a short walk from some great markets. It was a pleasure getting to know Suzanne.
Suzanne was a wonderful host! She's warm and engaging, happy to connect and also happy to give space when needed. Her home is beautiful and the bed was super comfy! And her cat, Monkey is so sweet and mellow. It was a true pleasure to stay in her place and I hope to return next time I'm in Berkeley.
Suzanne and her mother were delightful guests! She was easy to communicate with about her arrival time and they were friendly, quiet, clean, appreciative and thoughtful. We would be very happy to host them again anytime and highly recommend them as guests!
A great guest! We had fun hanging out and finding mutual friends.
Wonderful guest! We enjoyed her company - a pleasure to host!
Suzanne was a delightful guest. Very pleasant, friendly and easy to talk to.
She also left the room tidy and clean.
We hope she returns for another stay
Suzanne's mom stayed with us while visiting Suazanne, and we met Suzanne as well. They were both very nice and easy to get along with. We'd welcome them both back anytime. We bumped into each other out in the neighborhood once, and now it's good to know another local Woodian.
Four words might sum up Suzanne and Gaby's stay: they can stay again. They were low key guests with many of their own adventures to attend to. Plus, being the dog lovers they are, our 2 dogs received some extra walks and head scratches--much to their liking. They'd let Suzanne and Gaby come back too.
Great guests. Thoughtful and considerate in every way. It was fun to talk with another airbnb host. I enjoyed our conversations over the kitchen table in the morning immensely. They were enthused about their time here and liked the energy they brought to my house. You will be lucky if they come your way.
As this was my first bnb experience I was a tad nervous about making a good impression and also that my guests would be people that would be easy to deal with. As soon as I met Suzanne and her partner, any trepidation I had vanished! They were delightful! Our area was in the middle of a blizzard so they stayed in the most of the afternoon and the evening. We made dinner together and then watched a movie, along with my teenage children and several of their friends.
My guests were easy to get along with, great conversationalists and tidy.
All in all, I felt that when they left I was sad to see them go! I feel as though I have made two new friends and I hope to see them again some day.
It was a pleasure meeting Suzanne and Gaby. Even though we only got to visit for a short while, they were friendly, funny, and warm. We'd love to host them again!
