Hello! My name is Autumn Ayers and I live in Pittsburgh, PA in the USA. I am a writer and singer. I've made my living primarily through singing for the last 10 years. I write my own music and have performed around the country and the world with theater groups. Most recently, I've been the singer and lyricist for Squonk Opera since 2007 (if you'd like to see some of my work with them go t(URL HIDDEN) I've supplemented my artists income with day jobs from waitressing to nannying to dog walking to landscaping. Never let them tell you that artists are shiftless drifters - it's hard work to be mostly unemployed!
But seriously, the great thing about living in Pittsburgh is that I can afford to live a good life here with an artist's income and even save some money to travel, which I'm very excited about. This summer, my boyfriend, Sasha, and I will be visiting Spain and France for the first time! We fly into Barcelona on July 23rd and fly out of Paris 3 weeks later on August 15th. I'm beside myself with anticipation, but I'm a little nervous, too.
I don't speak Spanish or French, though I am learning some key phrases in the hope of being polite and respectful of the culture and the people. Sasha and I will each have a guitar so we can do some busking on the street while we travel around. We are currently looking for places to stay and advice about good ways to travel through the countries and things we shouldn't miss while we're there. We're considering maybe taking a boat from Barcelona to Marseille and then trains or renting a car to travel up through the South of France to Paris. Any advice or cautions anyone can provide would be very welcome!
I am a generous, adventurous, respectful and kind person who is grateful for the hospitality of those who have opened their lives and hearts and homes to me. I have life long friends who have become family and I make new friends easily. The greatest accomplishment of my life has been being present at the birth of my goddaughter. Her mother has been my best friend since I was 11 years old and it is the friendship of people like her, who know me well and love me anyway, that humbles even as it harbors me.
If you are a compassionate and open person with a love of life and an easy laugh, I hope to add you to my list of friends! Let's get to know each other over some delicious food and a bottle of wine! I'll sing a song for you if you tell me a story!
