Our room, the house and the location were perfect for our writing retreat. Jim and Mike are excellent hosts. If there's an opportunity to go back, we will.
This was our first introduction to airbnb and we weren't disappointed. Jim and Mike were excellent and generous hosts. They were warm and hospitable and made us feel comfortable. It was definitely a more personal experience than staying in a regular bed and breakfast.
Their accommodations were comfortable and tasteful. They put effort and thought into the breakfasts which were tasty and a great way to start the day.
We also loved their friendly animals - two dogs and cat.

We just enjoyed the most relaxing weekend of the year. Jim and Mike couldn't possibly be more gracious or accommodating hosts. They gave us plenty of space to enjoy ourselves, yet provided pleasant conversation the first evening we arrived and enjoyed a glass of wine on their deck while watching the stars come out, and during breakfast on our last day. Their home is beautiful, the guest room was spacious and clean, and the location could hardly be more idyllic. Jim and Mike took turns making wonderfully delicious breakfasts. We felt so spoiled! We really loved relaxing and spending time by the water and even the company of their two lovable dogs. Thank you, Jim and Mike for really making the weekend such a pleasant experience. We will definitely plan on a return visit!
This was our first AirBnb experience too, and it’s been very positive. This is something we’ll be using for our future vacations.
Jim and Mike were great hosts – friendly, warm, interesting and welcoming. The house is very nicely designed and comfortable, and the guest room provides a lot of privacy, so for a B&B there is a nice blend of autonomy and interaction with the hosts. Jim and Mike shared some of their history with the building of their home, and you get a sense that they went through a lot of struggle to build their dream home. We also really appreciated their environmental values and how they have really tried to adjust their lifestyle and home to minimize impact and consumption. Same with their husbandry of the two dogs, both of whom had come from the pound and been given happy, healthy lives (and it shows!) It made us feel good about being there beyond the exemplary physical comforts.
This is truly a pocket of paradise. When we arrived, it was 108 degrees in mid-June, so we went straight to the lake with Mike & Jim and their two dogs to guide us. The lake water was pristine and the perfect temperature, it felt like the best lake ever, and we spent much of our time at the lake during our 2-day stay. The only downside was the arrival of a family on the 2nd day who moored their houseboat nearby which ended our serene lake experience. The family was crass and loud, they talked loudly, blasted terrible music and kept using their various motorized water vehicles (it is interesting to note that half of the family was overweight). Luckily, we were able to escape the noise by swimming to the other side of the lake and enjoyed the rest of our time there! Other than that rude intrusion, everything else about Jim & Mike’s place was great: the delicious breakfasts, the comfortable accommodations and the awesome hike up scenic Bald Rock that Jim suggested we do. There were really cool and unusual rock formations to be seen. I also won’t forget their wonderful dogs, Samantha and Willy, who like to accompany guests down to the lake.
Jim and Mike were also super knowledgeable about the area and provided us with detailed maps and directions to get to some nearby hikes and nature spots. Bald Mountain was just incredible. So yeah, pretty much awesome.
This was my first Airbnb experience and it was totally awesome! The house is absolutely great, clean & quiet. The walk to the private beach is nice and the lake invited for a swim with just the right temperature. Jim & Mike are wonderful hosts and I really enjoyed our discussions about tech, politics and everything. They gave great advice what to do in the area and prepared lovely breakfasts! If you're looking to relax in a beautiful nature, this is THE place to go!
We had a fantastic weekend which started with a warm welcome and just got better. Our morning plans were rushed and we thought we would miss the breakfast part of the B and B experience, but our hosts were flexible and got us out on time for our obligation. The room was restful, private and very comfortable. We will definately go back.

Perfection. Heaven. Dozing in bed as moonlight streamed through the clerestory windows and waking up at daybreak to birdsong, I felt like I was camping in the wilderness. But no!!! I had a comfortable bed, an elegant bathroom, hot water, lovely bamboo towels, coffee in the room, and a hearty, tasty breakfast awaiting me just across the dog-trot breezeway. If you're looking for a beautiful, quiet get-away to soak up some Mother Nature with the comforts of a really neat home, this is it. I'll be back on a moonless weekend to do some star-gazing, stretching out on a gravity recliner on Jim and Mike's 88-ft long deck. Relax. Breathe. Take the two dogs for a walk down to the lakeshore. And try Luceddie's Restaurant in historic downtown Oroville for a good evening meal.
We had a great time hosted by Jim and Michael. They are very welcoming and have a lovely home. The room was super comfortable and a perfect home away from home. Their property is beautiful, great scenery, and trails, and just as they said "doggy heaven." They gave us great advice for hikes around the area and provided other traveling advice which we really appreciated! If you're looking for a great place to have a relaxing or adventurous outdoorsy vacation Jim and Michaels place is perfect for both!
Jim & Mike have a beautiful home with lovely views of Lake Oroville. They were excellent hosts - welcoming, easy-going - and fantastic cooks. They breakfasts they prepared were absolutely delicious! The hiking nearby was also great. Their place is perfect for a relaxing and romantic weekend getaway.
Jim and Mike are a pleasant couple, pretty easy guests to have around.
I stayed with Jim and Mike at their Sierra Lake View Retreat and found them very nice to be around, and their place to be very well cared for. I'd be glad to have them come stay at my place anytime.
