Our honeymoon at the dome was fantastic; you can't beat waking up to such an amazing mountain view every morning and we absolutely loved checking out the town of Idaho Springs at the bottom of the mountain. With Denver, Boulder, and Colorado Springs in easy driving distance we had some wonderful excursions as well.
From deer grazing right off the deck to the rustic but cozy interior of the house we truly had an incredible week. My wife and I hated having to leave and already are excited to come back some day.
Thank you for such a wonderful week, Adam; we were blessed to get to have the time at the Dome that we did.
This place is awesome and our official family retreat. We've been twice now and wish we could go every weekend. We have 3 kids who will have fond childhood memories of this place. They especially love the teepee swing and the ladder up to the hammock. They were so proud of themselves for climbing up cliffs and boulders and the spiral staircase! We saw deer and chipmunks on our hikes around the property. The view from the balcony is breathtaking at any time of the day or night. As musicians we really appreciated the extensive antique collection of records, everything from Jazz to Blues to Folk to Prog Rock to Punk, we had the record player going every night. The wood burning stove heats the place up nicely. We cooked most of our meals and I was grateful for the stock of condiments including ketchup and syrup. There were so many interesting art pieces and cool old books, including our kids new favorite, The Lobster Quadrille. There are plenty of board games and we also brought along some jigsaw puzzles and cross stitch work and coloring. We did bring a few toys for the youngest but they were not played with! Sticks and rocks were preferred over the store bought plastic! They especially loved searching for "treasure" and collected a hefty pile of pyrite and quartz. Being from the city, it's so nice to let the kids run free and just relax, unplug from the internet and the daily grind, and be one with nature, it felt like a true break. With all the basic amenities in such a cool, eclectic home, we really had a chance to get off the grid and hit restart, to really bond as a family, to get back in touch with what really matters in life. Staying here is a great reminder of just how simple and how wonderful life can be, and it was really possible to appreciate the present moment. We also had fun down the mountain in town, took the kids to the Indian Hot Springs mineral pool, you pay for the whole day so we left to have lunch and came back, definitely got our money's worth. We bought a growler of beer from Tommyknockers, refills are only $10! Two great places to eat are actually not on the main strip but down a bit further, Picci's Pizza and Smokin' Yardies are highly recommended, excellent food, kid friendly, great prices. Behind Yardie's is a path that leads down to the creek and we spent the afternoon skipping rocks. We just had an overall awesome experience, can't wait to go back! Thank you for opening this place up to us, we truly cherish it!
Great place, and great times. The host was very nice and friendly and more then accommodating. It's a bit off the beaten path but definitely not too far from the mountains / downtown. Would stay here again.
Spent a couple days at the dome and couldn't have has a better stay! The wives were worried about no TV but the fireplace, games and the vinyls kept us busy! Great hang out away from it all, we will be returning in the summer!
Description is accurate and knew exactly what to expect. Adam was great at communicating and made sure we were aware of important details regarding getting there.
Beautiful unique home, amazing view and location. Extremely cozy inside and peaceful outside. Great tunes for the record player. All around a very memorable experience. Defiantly will be back. Thank you very much!
Perched on a mountainside with breathtaking views, the dome offers the conveniences of home in a setting conducive to relaxation and musings. We all shared the loft bedroom and slept comfortably inside the spacious curves of this homage to Bucky Fuller. With easy access to an abundance of hiking, this is the perfect home base. I recommend a visit to any who enjoy the mountains and appreciate creative adventures.
I spent a very magical week at the dome in September. The views are spectacular. The home itself had everything needed to make great meals. Ample cutting boards, knives, and pots and pans. Never used the stove as it was plenty cozy. The space is an acoustic labyrinth. So many places for sound to change course. I had no troubles getting there in a little Kia, but I'd heed the warning (or requirement) and have 4 wheel drive for the winter months. Isolated yet an easy 10 minutes to Idaho Springs. Van was responsive and helpful and if I needed him, I felt he was there for me, but I didn't have a need to call on him as everything was in order and exactly as expected. A great experience.
This place and the host are nothing short of amazing. The dome is full of great energy and love. The quiet woodside is incredible. We will be back!
