I'm currently planning a trip to la and looking for a place there.
I was in NYC for a week and Shirley's studio was perfect: very comfortable and clean with everything we needed, including Wifi and AC and it has great location with all kinds of services and transportation just a block away.
The neighborhood is quiet so there was no traffic noise bothering us at night, and is also very safe which was perfect for us since we often arrived at the studio very late at night.
Shirley was very attentive and patient with us throughout the process, which was very important for us, first timers both in NYC and in using Airbnb.
We'll definitely consider this studio again as soon as we can go back to NYC!!
Shirley was a very welcoming host. She had everything ready when we arrived and always responded quickly o any request we had. The apartment is in a great neighborhood with quick access to the subway. The location between Riverside and Central Park is excellent if you are into some exercise in the mornings.
When we got there, it was the hottest week of the year so far. Even though there was a big fan in the apartment, it was absolutely stuffy and boiling hot. So overall, I would recommend it as long as it is not too hot!
This apartment is just as pictured/described. I made the mistake of not reviewing the amenities closely. There is NO AIR CONDITIONER in this apartment. There is one window, opens to a fire escape, and no screen on the window. I was assured it's a very safe neighborhood, which it is, but I would still not be comfortable sleeping with a window open, with no screen in 93 degree weather. There wasn't even a fan! I don't know anyone who doesn't have air conditioning in 2013. A 5,000 BTU air conditioner, more than enough to cool this small space, can be purchased at Walmart for $200. Anyway, I chose not to stay. I found a hotel with air conditioning. At the time of reservation, a big deal was made to make sure i understood and would abide by the Kosher rules of the kitchen, yet that wasn't even mentioned or explained upon arrival. I didn't notice that there was no air conditioner until the host left. Shirley is very kind, but i'm not sure renting this apartment is her thing. When I told her I left she asked what I did with the key.... um, yeah, I left it in the apartment. What would I do with it? Take it? Anyway, rent it at your own risk. Good luck. Location is great.
Great place, great host, great location.
Shirley is such a wonderful host!! She welcomed us with some very useful stuff in the fridge, and a very nice Chocolate detail. We had a great time at her apartment. Location was perfect for us, two blocks from the subway, two blocks from River Side park and 4 to central park. Apartment is simple, nice and neat. T.V. and WIFI perfect. Great neighborhood, everything at hand, even 24hs Pharmacy, Food. Many, many places to eat and visit around. Great shopping too, TJ Maxx just a few blocks and lots of stores on Broadway, Amsterdan and Columbus. For the price we paid is a very high recomendation. Francisco.
Although Shirley and I didn't get a chance to meet in person, she had a late arrival and we were both busy during the day, she was quiet, really easy to communicate with and respectful. She left my place perfect as well. Highly recommended, all was a breeze :)
Shirley was an excellent guest and would recommend her to other renters for sure ;)
Shirley was a great guest! Very clean and thoughtful! Thank you for the flowers!!!
Shirley is a great guest! She was so patient and responsive with her communication with me, as I was out of town for her entire stay. She is clean and responsible and even washed the linens. I hope I can host her again!
Shirley and her guest were absolutely wonderful. Very communicative and considerate. It was a pleasure. I would highly recommend her.
