Hi, I'm Barbara, I love to take long walks and the traditional meals in the places I visit and live, and my apartment is located in the vortex of the big city of Mexico.
Barbara's place was perfect for us! We really enjoyed the relaxing, artistic vibe of the apartment and how convenient the location was for getting around the city. By the end of our 8 days there it really began to feel like home and it was hard to leave. We have already recommended Barbara's flat to others who are interested in spending time in Mexico City. Parque Alameda, which is right next door, is beautiful to stroll around in and the market just across the street is vibrant and full of delicious food and arts vendors. Thanks for providing such a wonderful place to stay Barbara!

Barbara was lovely to deal with and we very much felt at home in her beautiful little apartment for 2 weeks. The location is fantastic, very close to Alameda Park, the metro, and easy walking distance to many places in the city. The apartment had everything we needed, and we were able to cook simple meals in the kitchen. Barbara conveniently let us stay for some extra nights when our plans changed - for which we were very grateful!
Todo muy bien. Barbara es una excelente anfitriona, seria y responsable. El departamento tiene una muy buena ubicación, cerca de todos los servicios y fundamentalmente al lado del metro. Epero volver algun día!
Perfect location in many respects.
I needed a place asap, and Barbara replied immediately to my request. I ended up arrived very late, so I am grateful to Sandra (who was assisting Barbara with the logistics during that stint) for hosting me so late in the evening.
The flat is great. It's in a clean and well-illuminated closed street, and there are many places one can walk to. If you have a car, there is free parking just outside the flat. It has a magnificent view, is very roomy and hast lots of sunlight. On the weekends, there is market and sometimes live amplified music. It's a very cultural area, with many museums one can walk to. Also, minutes from the Palacio de Bellas Artes and Plaza Garibaldi.
Just a few things to be aware of. If you are like me, mosquitos will follow you wherever you go, so take that into consideration. The shower doesn't have a lot of water pressure, so you have to turn on the sink's hot water to get the water heater going. I have a ton of hair, so it took me a little longer to wash my hair. And finally, the futon is on the floor. Not a problem, but it starts to pick up a bit of dust if you don't keep your area clean. No TV, radio, or internet. Perhaps you might be able to get Sandra to give you her local coffee shop's password, but it doesn't get a good signal.
Aside from that, it really is the perfect place to stay when in Mexico City. Perfect hosts, perfect location, and excellent price. What more can you want?
Barbra's place was a modest and homely treat within an otherwise touristy, musical, bustling part of town. The neighboring park is bliss for an evening stroll. There are delicious food trucks and a few good cafes just three hops to the right and left of the flat's front door. My girlfriend and I spent a lot of time just downstairs at a very enchanted cafe--we are forever beholden to the beer there (the only tasty brews we were able to find in DF). Yes, on weekends it does get loud, but other than that no complaints. Sunny, artsy, simple. Would definitely go back!
We were not easy guests to deal with: because of changing plans we managed to sent a request less then 12 hours before arrival. Even Barbara was in Europe she found a friend who met us and let us in. The appartment itself has a very positive vibes and it's own mood. It's basic but we had all we need. Location is perfect, right between historic center and business area, it's close to metro, walking street and restaurants. Alameda park infront of the window is also very nice: there is a street market with food and souvenirs all weekends, people playing chess, kissing young couples, cafes… It feels relaxed and safe there. If I come back I would definitely try to stay here again.
Barbara's house is such a lovely home! Its a beautiful and simple apartment, located in a very central (albeit slightly noisy) part of Mexico City. She has made every effort to make it as comfortable as possible with fresh linen, towels and soap awaiting and beautiful plants about the place.
I was there by myself, a solo female, and felt very safe, great neighbourhood! There is even a little market selling food and handicrafts right out the front on weekends, and you can steal wifi from the Hilton Hotel across the road- v handy!! It's a good sized apartment for 1-2 people and with the kitchen available cooking is easy.
If you don't mind simple but comfortable and a little bit of noise, I highly recommend this as a great price in Mexico City. Thanks Barbara!!!
Barbara's place was perfect - cozy, accessible, and with quite a bit of character. The apartment overlooks Alameda Park, which means that it can be a bit noisy on holidays, but things usually calm down by about 11:00pm. Within walking distance from two important metro stations, I didn't have any trouble using the apartment as a base for exploring the city. Stay here if you can, Alameda is a lovely alternative to Condesa or Roma, in my opinion.
Barbara is a warm person with great enthusiasm for art and living. She is a quiet and adventurous guest who likes to discover new ways of sightseeing. Barbara prefers fair deals and appreciates honesty because she gives it all to the host. It's a relief to have a guest like Barbara. I wish her all the luck in her future projects!
Barbara is very open and generous person, who enjoys the good things in life. Her home is very cozy and beautifully decorated... A simple and unique space in the heart of Mexico City. Unlike many places that tend too much towards stereotypical folklore, Barbara's home is very modern while keeping an antique Centro Historico vibe. She is a gracious host with lots of experience with the city, and very open to share her knowledge and tastes. Her place is at the foot of the historical Alameda park and just a few minutes walk to all the major tourist sites (Zocalo, Bellas Artes, Torre Latino) as well as the best museums of the city. A wonderful place to stay!
