I'm an optimistic individual, and I believe that good can be made out of most situations. I love adventure, be it rock climbing, river rafting, skiing or just getting to know a new and unfamiliar culture. My wife and I are best friends and sharing these adventure experiences together makes us even bettter friends.
My wife, Katie, and I met as river guides in Moab, UT, guiding on the Colorado River. We both love high adventure sports, and Utah, with it's beautiful mountains and high desert, is a wonderful place to do the things we love. She currently works as a Recreation Therapist (activities coordinator) and I'm in graduate school studying physical therapy.
We love to travel! Last spring, we spent 7 weeks in Peru and Argentina, and had a wonderful experience. We hiked the Inca Trail to Macchu Pichu, backpacked in the Patagonia, and did the Tango and watched a true South American "futbol" (soccer) match in Buenos Aires. We learned from this and other travel experiences that the real joy of traveling comes not only from what you see and do, but the people you meet.
Our style of traveling generally depends on where we visit. If we go to a foreign place or a place with many "must sees", we tend to plan our schedule out to make the most of our time. When we go somewhere to visit friends or just to "get away", we are more flexible and fly by the seat of our pants. We love being able to stay with locals, because they know how to really experience the area, taking in the best foods, the best sites, and the best activities.
Places we'd like to visit include: India, New Zealand, Spain, Switzerland, Costa Rica, hike the Appalachian Trail, Glacier National Park, New York, Washington D.C., San Francisco, and the world!!
Places we've been (at least one of us): New Zealand, Argentina, Peru, England, France, Japan, Fiji, Mexico, and several states.
We are very committed to health and wellness and staying active. Katie is a vegan, and although I'm nota as strict, I also focus on eating healthy. We both love to road bike and run, and we run the St. George, UT marathon every October.
Be true to yourself and others, do good to all men.
Hopefully this lets you get to know us a little better. Although we aren't in a position to host at this time (living with family members), we hope to at a later stage in life, and hope you can host us!
